5 Steps to Protection, Promises, and Plenty

  • God desires to move mightily among His children.

  • Agreement, then and now, is a venture into the divine.

  • When your thoughts and actions are linked with the Lord, the results can be astounding.

A few weeks ago, I shared David’s divine plan of praise, agreement, pursuit, authority, and giving (1 Samuel 18-30). This “Treasure Map” that he and his men followed, ultimately led him to move from the ash heaps of defeat, destruction, and distress (1 Samuel 18) and into an epic legacy of protection, promise, and plenty (1 Samuel 30).

What does this ancient story mean for you?

As I mentioned previously, God is telling me, again and again, that hope and restoration are on the way! I hear it in my spirit during the night. I hear it wherever I go during the daytime, and I keep receiving it during my intimate times with the Lord.

And this week I want to focus specifically on an agreement that will play such an important part into your miraculous turnaround during the coming weeks and months!

Hope and Restoration Are on the Way

God desires to move mightily among His children, especially those who have been ravaged by the pandemic crisis, political unrest, polarized communities, and financial upheaval.

When your thoughts and actions are linked with the Lord, the results can be astounding. The Word declares, “One of you can pursue a thousand because it is He who fights for you, just as He promised” (Joshua 23:10, VOICE).

Yet what happens when you come into agreement with others? The power multiplies exponentially. The Bible says that one shall chase a thousand, “and two put ten thousand to flight” (Deuteronomy 32:30, NKJV). Ten times greater!

And when the power of agreement is harnessed as believers join together in prayer, Jesus promises to act:

When two of you get together on anything at all on earth and make a prayer of it, my Father in heaven goes into action. And when two or three of you are together because of me, you can be sure that I’ll be there. (Matthew 18:19-20, MSG)

In David’s case, throughout his life, whenever he sought God’s direction, he came into agreement with people that he trusted spiritually (1 Samuel 30), for agreement is a proven spiritual principle.

Agreement, then and now, is a venture into the divine, yet too often it remains ignored and untapped by believers today!

What does this mean for you?

And what difference can this timeless spiritual law mean for you and your specific needs?

Powerful Blessings that the Power of Agreement Brings

Throughout the Old and New Testaments, we see amazing things happen when God’s people join together in one accord. Here is a dozen of the many blessings that the power of agreement provides to us:

  1. Brings victory. When the forces of Amalek came against Moses, he turned to Aaron and Hur, saying, “I need you.” These two trusted men joined him and “supported his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side” (Exodus 17:12). As a result, the people experienced victory!
  1. Provides escape from temptation. At Gethsemane, as Jesus faced His most trying hour, He needed someone to pray with Him. He said to Peter: “Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak” (Matthew 26:41, NKJV). If the Son of God needed a prayer partner, how much more do we? And because he didn’t join Jesus in prayer, Peter fell into temptation and denied the Lord three times.
  1. Encourages the right decisions. After Jesus ascended to heaven in a cloud, His followers returned from the Mount of Olives to Jerusalem and “continued with one accord in prayer and supplication” (Acts 1:14). Many powerful things took place as a result of their unity, including the power to make the right decisions, as with replacing Judas with Matthias (Acts 1:24).
  1. Releases the power of the Holy Spirit. Throughout history, great revivals have resulted from believers uniting in prayer, as when 120 followers of Jesus gathered together in the Upper Room to await the promise of the Holy Spirit: “When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place” (Acts 2:1), and “a mighty outpouring of God’s Spirit took place because of their unity” (Acts 2:2-4).
  1. Sets up the miraculous. The aftermath of Pentecost saw thousands come to faith in Christ, and “all who believed were together, and had all things in common” (Acts 2:44). As a result, “many wonders and signs were done through the apostles” (Acts 2:43). Amid unity, remarkable miracles took place!
  1. Gives great power and grace.Peter and John joined with other believers to pray in one accord: “And with great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon them all” (Acts 4:33). Unity doesn’t produce the ordinary; it releases great power and great grace!
  1. Creates no lack. After the Day of Pentecost, God began to pour out heaven’s bounty on the believers. They shared all they had with each other and met daily. The Word tells us, “Nor was there anyone among them who lacked” (Acts 4:34). Unity results in no lack—total abundance!
  1. Releases angels on our behalf. When Peter was arrested and jailed by Herod for preaching the Gospel, “constant prayer was offered to God for him by the church” (Acts 12:5). God heard the believers’ petitions and sent an angel to Peter saying, “‘Arise quickly!’ And his chains fell off his hands” (Acts 12:7) and he returned to the house where they were praying.
  1. Brings deliverance. The apostle Paul asked Christians to pray in agreement “that you strive together with me in prayers to God for me, that I may be delivered” (Romans 15:30-31, KJV). Later, writing to the believers in Corinth, Paul stated that the Lord delivered him from “the sentence of death” because of God’s people praying (2 Corinthians 1:11).
  1. Gives holy boldness for ministry.Paul asked believers to be “praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit…that I may speak boldly” (Ephesians 6:18-20, KJV). He pled, “Agree together in prayer that I may speak God’s Word with conviction and power.” As a result, Paul was able to stand boldly, even in the face of persecution and death, and proclaim the glorious message of salvation through Christ!
  1. Opens doors.Paul requested believers to “Continue earnestly in prayer…that God would open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ” (Colossians 4:2-3). God can unlock doors that once seemed impossibly closed. As a result, Paul was able to share the light of the Gospel that eventually spread throughout the known world!
  1. Allows the Word of God free access.Paul said, “Brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you” (2 Thessalonians 3:1). He also asked for prayer “that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ” (Colossians 4:3). It is a prayer that has been uttered and answered innumerable times around the globe by those who have been faced with decrees, laws, and persecution that would hinder the open preaching and teaching of God’s Word.

Seal Your Tomorrow Through Agreement and Giving Today

Just as King David learned, you also can move into an outpouring of blessing and victory if you follow the divine plan of praise, agreement, pursuit, authority, and giving (1 Samuel 18-30).

Follow his “Treasure Map” to move from ash heaps of defeat, destruction, and distress into an epic legacy of protection, promises, and plenty!

Hope and restoration are on the way, and two of the greatest steps are through the power of agreement and by sowing your seed!

It’s so important to notice that the final step David took was to seal his recovery—his future and that of his loved ones—through giving (1 Samuel 30:26). This was David’s victorious declaration of total recovery, just as giving was always a way of life for him!

David was a willing and generous giver because he was grateful for what the Lord had done and knew that his act of giving would impact generations to come! His heritage was blessed beyond imagination as long as they walked in obedience.

Like David, God desires to pour His restoration, safety, and blessings upon you, too!

Regardless of what you face today, God wants to pour His covenant favor upon you:

“All these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God” (Deuteronomy 28:2, NKJV).

You can seal your tomorrow by giving toward the spread of the Gospel today. And what better time than now when people around the globe face unprecedented challenges.

At the same time, believers have an urgent cause to give. The great Bible teacher A.W. Tozer said, “A scared world needs a fearless church.” We must come into one accord together to impact the world by giving so that the Gospel can be preached.

Today, sow your most sacrificial seed into the fertile soil of this worldwide ministry. Come into agreement with what God seeks to do together as we “go into all the world,” then watch what God does to bless you and your own legacy!

David planted seed generously to seal his life-changing restoration. Today I am asking you to sow your most sacrificial seed so I can continue to proclaim the name of Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord through every means possible!

Make the Divine Connection Between Your Need and Your Seed

What are your greatest needs today?

Whatever those needs may be, the answer is in your seed.

As a covenant believer, when you give, you can lay claim to all of God’s promises, for He tells us:

I will greatly protect you. I will set you in a high place, safe and secure before my face. I will answer your cry for help every time you pray, and you will find and feel my presence, even in your time of pressure and trouble. (Psalm 91:14-15, TPT)

Again, what do you need from heaven?

The amazing key to changing your life (and the prospects for others) is in the seed that you sow. Giving puts you in line for God’s covenant blessings of protection, power, peace, plenty, and so much more!

Send your seed today! Help me fulfill the Great Commission in freshly anointed ways as we step into new, unlimited frontiers together!
