Applying Blood Jesus P2

Applying the Blood of Jesus to Your Life, Part 2

  • The blood of the Lamb was shed to redeem you.

  • Because you are redeemed by the blood, the Holy Spirit is yours.

  • When you know you’re redeemed, your walk with God will change!

Last week, I wrote to you about the trail of blood that runs through both Old and New Testaments—the Adamic Covenant, Noahic Covenant, Abrahamic Covenant, Mosaic Covenant, Davidic Covenant, New Covenant, and the Everlasting Covenant.

I specifically shared how to apply the blood by appropriating all of the benefits of the cross of Jesus Christ. Job 1:9-10 tells us the five specific areas that the blood covers you, your house and family, your possessions and property, your endeavors, and your influence. Truly, in today’s world of pandemics, uncertainty, and unrest, learning how to plead Christ’s blood over these five areas can mean the difference between life and death.

And I want to emphasize a special word about the divine connection of protection and blessings you can make, beginning today.

Charles Spurgeon, often called “The Prince of Preachers,” once wrote:

It is not sin as we see it that was laid on Christ but sin as God sees it, not sin as our conscience feebly reveals it to us but sin as God beholds it in all its unmitigated malignity and unconcealed loathsomeness. Sin, in its exceeding sinfulness, Jesus has put away. But when we perceive sin, then we are to trust the blood.

Under the Old Covenant, blood had to be shed and applied regularly. Under the New Covenant, the sacrifice was made once and for all through Jesus Christ, yet it must still be applied often to be effective!

And one of the most wonderful benefits of the blood under the New Covenant is redemption. I want to spend more time today on the life- and eternity-changing benefits of redemption.

You have been bought and purchased. The blood of the Lamb was shed to redeem you.

Yet what does it mean to be redeemed?

  • It means you are no longer the devil’s possession. Jesus Christ came and purchased you with His own life and blood.
  • It also means you are God’s possession—every part of you belongs to heaven, and all you have to do is accept Jesus as Savior to be redeemed with His ultimate price.

Since that is the case, you can choose to walk as one who is redeemed, talk like it, and look like it. You are not Satan’s—you are God’s child. You don’t belong to the world—you belong to heaven.

Since heaven has already chosen you, it’s up to you now to choose heaven.

You are redeemed by the blood of the Lamb! You can join the psalmist in Psalm 107:1-2 (ESV) in saying:

Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, Whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy.

And as you read Ephesians 1, the entire plan for your redemption and salvation is revealed:

Just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He has made us accepted in the Beloved. In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace. (Ephesians 1:4-7, NKJV)

Mankind’s Greatest Need

God created man in His own image, formed him “of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul” (Genesis 2:7, KJV). God gave him the earth to subdue and oversee. Adam ruled and reigned with God on planet Earth. All man’s needs were met, and he enjoyed rich fellowship and communion with the Lord.

However, the enemy of mankind’s soul, Satan, “more subtle than any beast of the field” (Genesis 3:1), deceived Eve!

Adam soon joined her in this deception as they both disobeyed God’s command:

“Of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die” (Genesis 2:17).

Their disobedience brought severe consequences—spiritual death, bondage to Satan, and eternal separation from God. When Adam and Eve sinned, they violated the loving, intimate relationship that had existed between them and the Lord.

From that moment until Christ died on Calvary’s cross, man was held captive by Satan’s power. Even Old Testament prophets looked toward the day when they would be liberated from sin’s curse.

And because God is not willing that anyone should perish eternally (2 Peter 3:9), He took the first step toward reconciliation. By sending His Son as the sinless sacrifice and substitute for mankind, God offered a way in which man could be redeemed and reconciled back to Him through Jesus Christ.

God’s Perfect Timing

God sent His Son to die for humanity. Even though it was man who turned his back on the relationship he had enjoyed with God, because of His perfect love toward man, the Father took the first step toward redeeming and reconciling mankind back to a right relationship with Him by sending His Son to die for you and me:

But for you who welcome him, in whom he dwells—even though you still experience all the limitations of sin—you yourself experience life on God’s terms. It stands to reason, doesn’t it, that if the alive-and-present God who raised Jesus from the dead moves into your life, he’ll do the same thing in you that he did in Jesus, bringing you alive to himself? When God lives and breathes in you (and he does, as surely as he did in Jesus), you are delivered from that dead life. With his Spirit living in you, your body will be as alive as Christ’s! (Romans 8:9-12, MSG)

Jesus willingly became our substitute, giving His life on the cross of Calvary and shedding His blood to atone for sin. The price He paid made it possible for all mankind to be free from the penalty of sin and eternal separation from God. Through Jesus Christ and His shed blood, we are forgiven, cleansed, redeemed, and justified: “In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace” (Ephesians 1:7).

Because of His grace, our sin is not only pardoned, it is put away forever, as if it had never existed. We are pronounced innocent of all guilt. This wonderful gift is the result of God’s perfect love and grace toward man, allowing man to be viewed as innocent and reconciled to Him.

Redeemed Already

Dr. Winston Nunes was a wonderful Canadian Bible scholar who sowed a great deal into my life when I was a young man. He was a dear man of God who, until he went to heaven in 1999, committed his life to helping others understand God’s Word and God’s ways.

He made this startling statement: “God Almighty is not going from here to redemption; he’s going from redemption to there.” God begins from redemption on. He’s not bringing us to the place of redemption. He begins with redemption. Dr. Nunes went on to say, “The fact is, we are redeemed already.”

When you know you’re redeemed, your walk with God will change!

To enjoy a relationship with our Father, as Adam and Eve knew, you’ll see yourself in a new light—a different way. When you know you are redeemed, you know Satan cannot touch you or your mind or your body or any part of you. Why? Because you are redeemed! It’s part of God’s covenant with you.

Do you really understand what it means to be purchased?

It means Christ Jesus has complete authority and rights over you. It means no foreign power can touch your life. When you are purchased, it means Satan and all his hosts have no right to touch you. The devil’s success is dependent upon our ignorance. You must stand strong in Christ and know who you are in Him.

You are redeemed! You are purchased! You are His! Every part of you is His.

Oswald Chambers, the early twentieth-century Scottish Baptist and Holiness evangelist, author of the classic devotional My Utmost for His Highest, once wrote:

The heart of salvation is the Cross of Christ. The reason salvation is so easy to obtain is that it cost God so much. The Cross was the place where God and sinful man merged with a tremendous collision and where the way to life was opened. But all the cost and pain of the collision was absorbed by the heart of God.

You are bone of His bones and flesh of His flesh. Not only is your heart His, your soul is His and your body is His. The Word of God says the body is for the Lord. When you stand in the knowledge that even every hair on your head is His (that is why He numbered them, as explained by Jesus in Matthew 10:30), you will not tolerate any foreign power touching you, for you belong to God Almighty.

God has placed such incredible value on you that the blood of His Son paid for you to be redeemed!

7 Blessings of Redemption Through the Blood of Jesus

Think about sacrificing your own child to pay for someone else’s sin. Could you do it? No, in our human strength we could not. Nevertheless, God did! The Almighty gave His only begotten Son and saw Him slain on a cross to buy back sinners. Jesus died for the rotten, the filthy, the bound, the oppressed, and the demon-possessed.

The price has been paid for every man, every woman, every boy, every girl. And all you have to do is say yes. The book of Isaiah declares:

Don’t be afraid, I’ve redeemed you. I’ve called your name. You’re mine. When you’re in over your head, I’ll be there with you. When you’re in rough waters, you will not go down. When you’re between a rock and a hard place, it won’t be a dead end— Because I am GOD, your personal God. (Isaiah 43:2-3, MSG)

Here are seven specific blessings we receive through redemption by the blood of the Lamb:

  • Because you are redeemed by the blood, the Holy Spirit is yours. The Holy Spirit was given to us because of redemption and the cross. Peter tells us this in 1 Peter 1:2: “Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.” The redemptive work of Christ gives us the Holy Spirit. And the Holy Ghost answers to the blood. The blood always brought the fire down in the Old Covenant, and so it is today: the blood brings the Spirit of the Lord upon your life. The Bible says that the Holy Ghost and the blood agree: “And there are three that bear witness in earth, the spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one” (1 John 5:8). The Holy Ghost is upon you because you are redeemed. The Holy Spirit and the blood of the Lamb are in total agreement.Where the blood is, the Holy Ghost is. Where the Holy Ghost is, the blood is. You’ll never find the presence of the Holy Ghost without the blood availing, touching, cleansing, and purifying. Wherever you see the sprinkling of the blood, you’ll see the Holy Ghost active, moving, and touching lives.
  • Because you are redeemed by the blood, you are reconciled to God.Paul’s Holy Spirit-inspired letter to the Colossian church shares another promise of the blood of the Lamb: “And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven” (Colossians 1:20). The blood redeems you, and once you are redeemed, you are reconciled to God.The power of the blood of Christ removes all that separates you and me from God. It restores our relationship and our fellowship with Him. In reconciliation, the Holy Ghost is yours, and the presence of God is yours in its entirety. Do you know that when Jesus bought you and made you His own, His presence became yours eternally?
  • Because you are redeemed by the blood, you are continually cleansed.Because of the blood of the Lamb, we receive cleansing in Christ. There is an uninterrupted abiding in Him through the cleansing of the blood. Scripture declares: “If we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin” (1 John 1:7, NKJV).That “cleanses” is present tense! How do you walk in the light so you can receive such wonderful cleansing? You simply confess your sin to Him and receive His forgiveness. When we do, according to Scripture, He’s faithful and just to forgive us our sin and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. There is an uninterrupted flow of cleansing power in Christ Jesus. When God looks at you, He sees no sin. He sees the blood of Christ cleansing you. You are cleansed, wholly and completely clean. The blood of the Lamb makes you pure in the sight of God. It’s as if you have never sinned. Hallelujah!
  • Because you are redeemed by the blood, you are sanctified.Hebrews 13:12 says: “Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate.” And when you are sanctified, you become a vessel of honor set apart for the Master’s use.The apostle Paul, writing under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, gave this clear-cut description: “If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honor, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work” (2 Timothy 2:21). God chose you and set you apart because He loves you because you are washed in the blood of Christ.
  • Because you are redeemed by the blood, you are perfected.Hebrews 10:14 tells us an important truth: “For by one offering he hath perfected forever them that are sanctified.” And having perfected us, He does not remember our sins, nor bring them to our remembrance. Think about the fact that God says He will not remember your sins anymore. Can you picture the day when you will stand before Jesus in glory? He will not remind you of your sins, because every sin is forgotten. Every sin is under the blood. Every sin has been washed away. You are perfect. Now that’s a staggering statement, yet it is the Word of God!
  • Because you are redeemed by the blood, you pass from death to life. The moment you receive Jesus in your life, you pass from sin to righteousness and from darkness to life through His blood, for “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life” (John 5:24).The blood of Christ causes judgment to pass over your life as you are delivered from Satan’s domain. Likewise, as the blood of a lamb was applied to the house of the Israelites, no plague came upon them or destroyed them: “And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt” (Exodus 12:13).Judgment only falls upon those living in the world. Grace covers the lives of those who have received Christ Jesus because of His precious blood that was shed. Then, as now, you are protected because of God’s covenant with you.
  • Because you are redeemed by the blood, you can come boldly before God’s throne. Not only are you perfected in Christ, you have also been given boldness to enter God’s holy presence:

“Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, and having a High Priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful” (Hebrews 10:19-23).

Always remember, every promise in the Bible belongs to you! That’s why the Word says He’s “faithful that promised.” You can walk in and claim every promise in the Bible. You can walk into the presence of God today because you are bought with the blood of the Lamb.

Once you are in His presence, you can ask for whatever you will as He makes His will known to you. He’ll give it to you. What a wonderful promise that becomes available to you when you accept the Lamb of God into your heart and life!

Because you are redeemed by the blood of Christ, the Holy Spirit is yours, you are reconciled to God, you are continually cleansed, you are sanctified, you are perfected, you have passed from death unto life, and you can come boldly before the throne of Almighty God!

There are so many more blessings of redemption that come your way when your heart is washed with the blood of the Lamb. The Bible is filled with them; so much, in fact, that it could take the rest of your life to explore them all.

Just as the blood of a lamb brought Passover for the Israelites, so with the blood of Christ Jesus, the Lamb of God is your Passover. You can also cover your home with the blood of Christ. You are not only bought through the work of the Savior on the cross, you are covered with His blood.

Today, more than ever, you can sing the wonderful Fanny Crosby song:

Redeemed, how I love to proclaim it!
Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
Redeemed through His infinite mercy,
His child and forever I am.
I think of my blessed Redeemer,
I think of Him all the day long:
I sing, for I cannot be silent;
His love is the theme of my song.
Redeemed, redeemed,
Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
Redeemed, redeemed,
His child and forever I am.

Let the redeemed of the Lord say so! The Lord has defeated every enemy. Victory is yours today! You are redeemed! It’s an integral part of God’s covenant with you!

Because of His redemption, you can expect an exciting life filled with all of His blessings and a divine connection to His favor and protection!

What a Powerful Message of Redemption

The Word says that “God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). That is His priority—the salvation and redemption of souls!

That is why our Lord Jesus, just before ascending to heaven to sit at the Father’s right hand, said to us, “As my Father hath sent me, even so send I you” (John 20:21), and He commanded us to “go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15).

Our God is “not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9). And the God who raised Jesus from the dead has called you and me to preach the most glorious Gospel and tell lost humanity that Jesus Christ, who is “the same yesterday, and today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8), is the answer to the world’s darkness, bondage, and sin!

Think about it—God has given us the privilege of telling the whole world about salvation through Jesus Christ! The angels themselves do not have this privilege. Yet God, in His amazing love, has saved us and called us to preach the greatest message ever given—that Jesus gave His life to save us.

What better time than now?

Be a vital part of taking the message of redemption to the world.

When you give to His work, you sow for both today and tomorrow, for Scripture declares:

Cast your bread upon the waters, For you will find it after many days. Give a serving to seven, and also to eight. (Ecclesiastes 11:1-2)

There is a powerful connection between the blood sacrifice on Calvary’s cross and the covenant blessings provided to you when you receive Christ into your life.

The Bible clearly says that if we sow, we will reap (Galatians 6:7). This is a law of God which cannot be broken!

However, to step into God’s overflow, it’s urgently important to understand that the promises mean little unless you are willing to take the crucial step to apply His covenant blessings to your life.

Plant your seed toward the spread of the Gospel, then stand on His promises as you begin to step into a new dimension of favor and increase.

God desires to bless you and your loved ones beyond your wildest imagination. He wants to protect you. He wants to grant your requests. He declares again and again in His Word that He wants to prosper you, to overtake you with blessings.

Our Lord promises:

“Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you” (Luke 6:38).

Make the divine connection between your need and your seed. Release your seed today! Then get ready to be blessed so you can be a blessing again and again during the coming weeks and months!

Your greatest days are ahead as you bring the message of the cross to the lost—as you give toward the worldwide spread of the Gospel.

As you plant seeds toward proclaiming salvation and the message of redemption to the nations, your tomorrow will be brighter than your yesterday, your lack will surrender to prosperity, and your sickness will succumb to overwhelming health and longevity.
