Sowing Seed: Becoming Anointed by God with His Divine Anointing

by Pastor Benny Hinn

Aug 13, 2020

The Key to Having God’s Anointing Released on Your Life

  • It’s time for believers to march forward in deliverance and victory!
  • God wants to transform you spiritually, emotionally, and physically!
  • Your mind is the seed plot of your life, the ground in which the seed is sown.

This week I’ve been teaching on “Secrets that Intensify the Power of God in Your Life!” The desire of my heart is for this message to impact your life forever.

As I’ve taught on this subject, memories from my childhood come to mind. When I was a child growing up in Israel, the winds blowing from the south would bring dust throughout my hometown of Jaffa. Dreariness would come with all the silt sifting through the air.

But when the winds begin blowing down from the country of Lebanon, 140 miles to the north, you would wake up smelling the aromatic cedars. Freshness filled the air. You would walk outside and see the crispness in the sunshine all around you. I grew up being acutely aware of the changes in the atmosphere and the growing intensity of His anointing that can literally happen overnight.

We are now also going through an atmospheric shift. What we do now will dramatically impact the future, especially as we step into the supernatural connection that makes all the difference in the world!

The cedars of Lebanon are mentioned 103 times in the Bible. They were called “the trees of the Lord” (Psalm104:16, NRSV). Cedars were used in Tabernacle offerings (Numbers 19:6).

And in Isaiah 35:1-2, we are told about “the glory of Lebanon.” This refers to changes in the atmosphere that happen during rain, growth, fresh winds, and clear skies when “waters break forth in the wilderness, and streams in the desert; the burning sand shall become a pool, and the thirsty ground springs of water” (Isaiah 35:6-7, ESV).

This passage of Scripture describes healings, the removal of evil, and “a highway shall be there, and it shall be called the Way of Holiness” (Isaiah 35:8, ESV). Moreover, “everlasting joy shall be upon their heads; they shall obtain gladness and joy, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away” (Isaiah 35:10, ESV).

The Lord is telling believers, as in the Song of Solomon 4:16, ESV: “Awake, O north wind, and come… Blow upon my garden, let its spices flow. Let my beloved come to his garden, and eat its choicest fruits.”

Today, the Lord is showing me that the anointing is going to be released on covenant believers as we have never known before!

There is a change coming, as described in Isaiah 35. The spiritual climate is shifting. It is intensifying. We must be ready!

The Key to Releasing God’s Refreshing Anointing

In Isaiah 35, it is crucial to notice that when the winds brought a new, refreshing atmosphere, evil had to leave. Even as the “haunt of jackals” was destroyed (verse 7) and the ravenous beasts were banished (verse 9), the eyes of the blind were opened. The ears of the deaf were unstopped. The lame man leapt like a deer. The mute person’s tongue sang for joy!

Where there was once desolation and danger, the land was filled with plenty, peace, and pleasantness.

I think we can all agree that the past few months have turned our entire world topsy-turvy. So much that what we took for granted every day was suddenly gone. Normalcy had vanished into thin air.

Even as the world continues to face an international pandemic, geopolitical turmoil, and economic chaos, and even as fear and uncertainty have seemingly become the “new norm,” what I am hearing from Almighty God is that it is time for believers to march forward in deliverance and victory, not shrink back in fear or panic!

More than ever before, we know that regardless of the circumstances around us, God has given us the tools, knowledge, and opportunity for us to stand tall as we shine the Light of the World boldly around the globe. To do so we must get ready to do spiritual battle—beginning today!

And it begins with learning to think correctly!

The key is learning to see God in everything, not the circumstances. To do this we must have the mind of Christ!

A fresh anointing doesn’t just happen. Just as any gardener knows, the soil must be properly prepared and watered before planting, growth, and harvest come.

So you must allow God to prepare your “soil.”

The Bible says much about this:

  • “For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ. (1 Corinthians 2:16, ESV)
  • For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. (Romans 8:6, ESV)
  • Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. (Colossians 3:2, ESV)
  • For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ. (2 Corinthians 10:4-5, ESV)

We are told:

I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. (Romans 12:1-2, ESV).

What does it mean to not be conformed to this parched, troubled, fearsome world, but to be transformed by the renewing, refreshing Spirit of God in your mind?

God wants to transform you spiritually, emotionally, and physically! How your mind is changed from the old to the new is crucial!

How do you get your mind to think as God wants you to think?

You are not what you think you are, but what you think, you are!

You become what you think about. The Bible tells us, “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he” (Proverbs 23:7, NLV).

Your mind is the seed plot of your life, the ground in which the seed is sown. God wants to prepare your “soil” for something better, something higher.

In school, you undoubtedly learned this poem by Ralph Waldo Emerson:

Sow a thought and you reap an action.

Sow an act and you reap a habit.

Sow a habit and you reap a character.

Sow a character and you reap a destiny.

It is imperative that you control your thoughts. You begin with a thought and it eventually becomes your destiny. It controls you. You don’t control it.

No wonder when the devil attacked Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, he aimed at their minds. He began to sow distrust in the Lord. He told them that God had lied to them. He said God knows that if you eat of this fruit you will become just like Him (Genesis 3:4-5).

The devil sowed a lie, craftily aimed at Eve’s mind.

Just as with untended weeds that spring up and flourish in your garden, then, as now, we must be careful of the lies and wrong thinking that happens naturally.

We are told:

Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the Lord. (Isaiah 55:7, ESV)

Throughout the Bible, God often appeals to reasoning and the mind. He said:

“Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool” (Isaiah 1:18, ESV).

Where is a person’s reasoning ability? The mind. God is saying, “I want to talk to your mind.”

What an amazing truth. God knows the door to the soul and human spirit is the mind!

Salvation does not call for blind faith. Salvation calls for reasoned faith. God wants you to think about it and understand it mentally.

Faith means that you think about it and you reason with God. Faith does not deny the fact. Faith changes fact. We have to change our minds. We have to make decisions.

This is why we are promised:

“Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the Lord, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon” (Isaiah 55:7, ESV).

Before we can live God’s way, we have to start thinking of God’s way. This is why God says, “Renew your mind.” You make the decision. You say, “I will no longer think that way like a parched, arid, infertile land. I will be refreshed by the breezes, the rain, and God’s favor!”

We decide!

And the minute we decide for our “soil” to be properly prepared, just as He did with the children of Israel, God begins to move us into covenant blessing:

“I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people” (Jeremiah 31:33, ESV).

But how?

Here are three ways to prepare your mind for God’s to release His anointing upon your life:

  1. Plow your fields!

Think of your mind as a garden that must be prepared for God’s supernatural planting and harvest.

We are told:

  • Sow for yourselves righteousness; reap steadfast love; break up your fallow ground, for it is the time to seek the Lord, that he may come and rain righteousness upon you. (Hosea 10:12, ESV)
  • Plow your unplowed fields, but then don’t plant weeds in the soil! Yes, circumcise your lives for God’s sake. Plow your unplowed hearts. (Jeremiah 4:3-4, MSG)
  • For behold, I am for you, and I will turn to you, and you shall be tilled and sown. (Ezekiel 36:9, ESV)

Remember, before we can live God’s way, we have to think about God’s way. This is the beginning of what the Bible means, “Renew your mind.”

Get rid of the weeds and undergrowth. You make the decision!

You have to say, “I will no longer think that way. I will think God’s way!”

God will show you what to clear out of your mind. Will you listen and obey?

  1. Allow God to “hammer” the rocky soil in your mind.

It’s not enough to plow the “soil” of your mind. The plowing will expose rocks that often lie underneath the surface

Again, this is a conscious choice. It’s not easy, but it is crucial to prepare.

We are asked, “Is not My word like a fire?” says the Lord, “And like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?” (Jeremiah 23:29, NKJV).

The Word of God is the hammer that breaks up the old way of thinking in your mind. It gets rid of what is hindering you.

Breaking up the rocks begins with a decision to not do what has hindered you in the past—impure thoughts, anger, fear, doubt, hatred, worries, and so much more.

I’ve heard it said, “You can’t stop a bird from flying over your head, but you can stop it from building a nest!”

There is a saying in the southern part of the United States: “Nip it in the bud!” As with any area of life, early detection and prevention are always much better than the cure.

Pray for God to show you the rocks in your “soil.” Then offer those rocks up to His “hammer.”

We are told:

  • Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you, I wait all the day long. (Psalm 25:5, ESV)
  • Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. (James 4:7, ESV)
  • Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. (1 Peter 5:6-7, ESV)

Are you just adding God to your life, or are you submitting to Him—to His discipline, His ways, His mind?

Allowing Him to break up the rocks in your life. You will never be the same!

  1. Let God plant the perfect seeds into your prepared “soil.”

It is not enough to plow your garden and willingly allow your “rocks” to be broken. From that point forward, you must plant the seeds that will yield the correct plants.

The psalmist wrote, “I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you” (Psalm 119:11, ESV). This means being heavenly minded, dwelling on His Word, living in His presence, seeking Him above all.

We are told:

  • All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16, ESV)
  • If you’re serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don’t shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ—that’s where the action is. See things from his perspective. (Colossians 3:1-2, MSG)
  • Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies. (Philippians 4:8-9, MSG)
  • Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. (Colossians 3:16, ESV)

Plant your garden by reading and meditating on the Word of God. The Word goes from your mind to your heart. The harvest then belongs to the Lord, even as He allows you to enjoy it both in this life and the next!

God’s Harvest—Your Harvest

From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible has much to say about soil and planting. Jesus Himself, anointed by God, taught about the different kinds of soil:

A sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seeds fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured them. Other seeds fell on rocky ground, where they did not have much soil, and immediately they sprang up since they had no depth of soil, but when the sun rose they were scorched. And since they had no root, they withered away. Other seeds fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them. Other seeds fell on good soil and produced grain, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. He who has ears, let him hear. (Matthew 13:3-9, ESV)

This pertains to much more than salvation. It applies to the Christian walk, as well. You must prepare the soil and continue the farm work throughout your life.

So it is with the principle of sowing and reaping that is taught throughout God’s Word.

And the “secret” is in your seed, especially as you make the divine connection between your need and your seed.

What do you need in your life right now?

We all have needs, some more desperate or urgent than others, but I want you to know that no matter what you are facing, God has a supernatural answer.

That answer is in your seed, embodying the anointing of God. Never, ever underestimate the power of your seed!

We are told, “Whatever a man sows, that he will also reap” (Galatians 6:7, NKJV). You can’t reap if you don’t sow. That’s why the enemy of your soul does everything possible to keep you from planting into the kingdom of God. The evil one knows what you stand to gain.

Jesus Himself taught that if you give what is in your hands, you will receive a supernatural harvest:

Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you. (Luke 6:38, NKJV).

When you put whatever you have into God’s hands, you give Him something to work with. No matter how small your faith seems to be, God can transform what you offer Him to meet your needs beyond all expectations!

Remember, in your hand, it’s just a seed, but with God and His anointing, it’s all you need!

So, what is God stirring in your heart right now? What do you want Him to do? What miracle do you need?

When you give toward the spread of the Gospel, something indescribable and unspeakable happens in your life. God shows His power in your life every time you give.

And He, in His anointing, has promised to protect and empower you and me as we go forward for Him! Make the divine connection between your need and your seed. Release your seed today! Then get ready to be blessed so you can be a blessing again and again in the coming weeks and months!

Be Part of What God Is Doing

Just as understanding the “gardening” process of your mind, as the Spirit of God intensifies His anointing, it is also vital for us to prepare for the coming months to fulfill the Great Commission as we take the message of Christ to the nations.

Especially urgent is the blistering speed that is changing the electronic landscape. When this ministry was birthed 46 years ago, personal computer ownership was non-existent. Cellphones were still a fantasy. Traditional television was the only way to reach a mass audience. Today, everything is moving to smartphones and notebook computers that pack dizzying capability into a small hand-held package. Meanwhile, people in droves are “cutting the cord,” and they are simply watching anything they want, any time they choose, and anywhere they decide.

With the information technologies available, we can literally touch hearts with the Gospel, carrying God’s anointing around the clock, every day, from the hurting teenager in Chicago to the lost soul in the most desolate outposts around the world!

But what is effective today will undoubtedly be obsolete tomorrow! What we’ve done together during the past has been remarkable. Few have done more for less than anyone in ministry or commercial broadcasting. But we must change to survive, and change is always expensive. However NOT changing is not only more expensive in the long run, falling behind would be devastating to our mission of reaching the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ!

Will you consider taking a moment to plant your seed into the fertile soil of this worldwide ministry?

As you sow your precious financial seed, you take the Living Word of God to a world that is sinking deeper and deeper into danger and darkness. And as you sow your financial seed, you give toward fulfilling the Great Commission!

Unless they hear and receive the Gospel, too many of the 7.8 billion souls alive today on Planet Earth may spend eternity separated from our Lord. Together, we can make an eternal difference.

May God bless you to be a blessing. And may He shower you with an unprecedented overflow for everything you do to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ!

Plant Your Seed Today

We are promised:

“He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God” (2 Corinthians 9:10-11, ESV).

As we move strongly through the remainder of 2020, your financial seed goes to preaching the Gospel to multitudes around the world through any means. God will produce the harvest!

Make the divine connection between your need, whatever it is, and your seed. As you sow your precious financial seed, you take the Living Word of God to a world that is sinking deeper and deeper into danger and darkness?

You can make a difference in the world today, even as you sow a seed to change your own circumstances. The harvest, both now and throughout eternity, will be beyond your wildest dreams.

I eagerly await hearing from you!

Winning the lost at any cost,
