Today’s Key Scripture
“The weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.”
— 2 Corinthians 10:4-5
What is intercession? First of all, intercession is sacrificial prayer. It focuses less on ourselves and more on others. It asks for God’s power to be unleashed in the world.
Intercessory prayer involves spiritual warfare. Our battle is not against flesh and blood, and it is not fought with carnal weapons. We win these battles on our knees!
Through intercessory prayer and agreement, we can subdue the forces of hell and render Satan powerless, because “the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds.”
Through intercession, we can change the course of history. Through prayer and intercession, we can rescue our children from disaster and pray them into the will of God. Through intercession, we can touch our community and impact our world.
God has placed all that He is and has at our disposal in prayer. No principality or power can stand against the person who knows how to pray.
By our intercession or lack of it, we hold the power of life and death over precious souls.
May God bless you today and in the future as you discover a deeper dimension of intercessory prayer and unity with other believers.
A Prayer for Today
Father, teach me how to be the powerful spiritual intercessor You have called me to be. Show me how I should pray and prepare. Thank You that I don’t have to walk alone, but I can have confidence that You are with me moment by moment, day by day. I also thank You for placing other believers in my life to join in one accord. And I especially thank You today for the eternal reward in heaven that makes the trials, spiritual warfare, and waiting worth everything. I pray this in Jesus’ name, amen.
