Today’s Key Scripture
“They raised their voice to God with one accord and said: ‘Lord, You are God, who made heaven and earth and the sea, and all that is in them.’”
— Acts 4:24
Prayer is crucial for anyone who desires a deeper walk with the Lord, so for the next seven mornings, I will share seven revelations of prayer—confession, supplication, adoration, communion, intercession, praise, and thanksgiving.
True prayer begins with confessing who God is. As recorded in Acts 4, after the apostles were threatened by the Pharisees and told not to speak in the name of Jesus Christ, Peter prayed, and the apostles came into God’s presence by confessing who He is.
As a result, the Lord heard their prayers and moved mightily among them. The place where they met was literally shaken!
The Scripture tells us, “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name” (Psalm 100:4).
True prayer begins by confessing who He is. We confess His glory. We confess His holiness. We confess His majesty.
When you enter prayer, begin by telling God who He is: “Lord, You are God Almighty. You are just. You are pure. You are holy.”
Jesus Himself taught in the model prayer, “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name” (Matthew 6:9). Hallowed means “holy, sacred, greatly revered, and honored.”
How can you approach God and immediately begin telling Him your needs until you tell Him how mighty He is to meet those needs?
Prayer begins with declaring the glory of God—confessing who He is.
A Prayer for Today
Father, I revere and honor You today. I praise You for all You have done—from Creation to Calvary, and from Pentecost to today. I want to express my gratefulness to You for guiding my path, even when I had no idea where You were leading me. And I’m thankful to You for where You will take me today and tomorrow. I pray all these things with deep thanksgiving and in Jesus’ name, amen.
