Today’s Key Scripture

“When you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.”

— Matthew 6:6

As we close out the month of November and our theme of “Keys to the Holy Spirit’s Anointing,” let me share one of the most basic keys.

Receiving answers to our prayers is something that every child of God can expect. The Bible is filled with promises for answered prayer.

Everything begins with preparation. Becoming an effective, anointed prayer warrior begins by preparing ourselves every day for serious, intimate communion with God. It only happens when we spend time with Him. Only then can breakthroughs happen in every area of our life.

John Wesley once said, “I have so much to do that I must spend several hours in prayer before I am able to do it.”

We must prepare our hearts for prayer. Everything starts by creating an atmosphere that makes it easy to commune with God, regardless of how busy our schedule is.

One of the first ways is finding a quiet place whenever possible.

Do you want freedom in prayer? Do you want breakthroughs?

Find a quiet place to be alone with the Lord. It is important to get away from distracting influences because you cannot commune with the Lord as effectively in a busy, loud atmosphere surrounded by people.

A Prayer for Today

Father God, help me to remember what a difference it makes when I spend time with You every day. Awaken me daily with a deep desire to meet with You and hear You speak into my life. Prepare me every day with Your words of encouragement, reassurance, and wisdom. I want more of the Holy Spirit in my life. I desire to be more reliant upon You. Help me to see with Your eyes and be open to You today and always. I pray all this in the name of God the Son, amen.
