Today’s Key Scripture

“Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.”

— 1 Timothy 2:1-2

So much of society is plagued with problems. On that we can undoubtedly agree. But are we praying for our leaders?

What about your national, state, and local elected officials? We have no right to ever complain about our leaders if we have not been consistently praying for them.

What about Christian leaders, including your pastor? They need your prayers. They often fight major spiritual battles that you don’t know about, but the Holy Spirit can lift them up through your intercession.

The prophet Samuel wrote:

Far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord in ceasing to pray for you; but I will teach you the good and the right way. Only fear the Lord, and serve Him in truth with all your heart; for consider what great things He has done for you. But if you still do wickedly, you shall be swept away, both you and your king. (1 Samuel 12:23-25)

Those surrounding you may be in desperate need of your prayers. You do a great service to them when you consistently lift them up in prayer!

A Prayer for Today

My Father, thank You for being involved in my life. I’m grateful that You desire to have a personal relationship with me, even as I desire an intimate connection with You. Thank You for Your love for me today and forever. Thank You for the blessings You’ve entrusted to me and my loved ones. Help me to use those blessings to bless others. I pray specifically for those in authority over me. Protect them. Guide them. And I pray that You will direct my steps as I live and walk with the Holy Spirit today. I pray this in the name above all names, Jesus, amen.
