The Calcutta Mercy Hospital in Calcutta, India, now in service for over 30 years, ministers to over 100,000 men, women, and children each year, and is now underwritten by the generous support of Benny Hinn Ministries partners and ministry friends. Located in a city of 18 million people, surrounded by a country with a population now topping a billion, this much-needed facility is an open door to reach an often otherwise closed country with the Gospel. Pastor Benny and his worldwide partners have faithfully supported the ongoing works in India started by Mark and Huldah Buntain, who blazed deep trails through the poorest parts of India, touching millions of lives through their medical and mission work. They traveled to Calcutta over 40 years ago and have since planted hundreds of churches, dozens of schools, and a number of medical facilities, including the Calcutta Mercy Hospital in 1977. Their daughter, Bonnie, grew up in Calcutta as her parents lay the foundations for their extensive ministry outreach. After her father’s death in 1989, she felt the burning desire to return to her roots and to lay down her life as her father did. Today his work and dream live on in her as she firmly holds to an undying faith in God. James 1:27 declares, “Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.” And Matthew 25:40 promises, “And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” Nearly three years after the dedication of the new Hinn Pediatric Wing at Calcutta Mercy Hospital, the welcome addition continues to be used mightily to care for many of India’s needy children. The second floor children’s wing, dedicated in honor of Pastor Benny Hinn and the worldwide partners of Benny Hinn Ministries, includes a doctors room, nurses room, pediatric intensive care unit, an isolation ward, as well as private and semiprivate rooms. Every part of the pediatric wing continues to flourish. Offering her thanks to Pastor Benny and ministry partners around the world, Dr. Huldah Buntain says:
“Words fail to express our gratitude for your wonderful assistance with the hospital. The needs seem to increase daily. Thank God for your help, your heart for medical missions, and your concern for the poor of Calcutta.”
Thanks to Benny Hinn Ministries partners and ministry friends, we are making a difference among what many would consider “the least of these” for the eternal kingdom of God!
