Today’s Key Scripture (all references NKJV unless otherwise noted:
Behold, the star which they had seen in the East went before them, till it came and stood over where the young Child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy. And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him. And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
—Matthew 2:9-11
As we reflect on the wise men who came to worship him from afar, laying before Him their gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh, may we also worship Him, raising our voices with the heavenly hosts in exalting and adoring Him.
The gifts from the wise men were meaningful and valuable. Yet they paled in comparison to the ultimate treasure. Our Father gave us the most wonderful gift when He sent His only begotten Son to die, that all men might be saved.
Today, as during the time of His birth, life, ministry, death, burial, and resurrection, Jesus is drawing us to Himself, calling us to a deeper walk—to worship Him in spirit and truth!
The treasures that await you are greater than you can handle right now, which is why He has to prepare you for getting closer and closer to Him. Our Lord wants intimacy with you. He created you for worship. He designed you so that He could reveal His heart to you:
During this time of celebration of the birth of our wonderful Lord Jesus, my prayer is that His glory and presence will intensify greatly on your life and your loved ones as you draw closer to Him!
A Prayer for Today:
Good morning, Holy Spirit! As I rise to meet this Christmas morning, I ask that You fill me anew and afresh with Your Spirit. Wherever I go, help me spread the true treasures of Your love, joy, peace, goodness, and faithfulness. Give me a greater desire to become more like You. Help me to worship You, not just sitting down or on my knees, but in everything I do today. Thank You for the blessings You have bestowed upon me, and I ask Your help in blessing others in return. I lift up Your holy Name as I pray, Amen!
