Today’s Key Scripture
“Have all the workers of wickedness and injustice no knowledge, who eat up my people as they eat bread, and do not call upon the Lord?”
— Psalm 14:4, amp
Prayerless people are in that condition because the Scriptures declare that they have no knowledge of God.
The lack of the knowledge of God results in prayerlessness, and it is because of that lack that so many do not pray. Likewise, many do not pray because they have turned away from our Lord. Zephaniah 1:3-5 tells us that the prayerless, who are also called idol worshippers, have given themselves to the will of the Enemy and refused to seek the Lord, for they have given themselves over to rebellion. They have “turned back from the Lord; and…have not sought the Lord, nor enquired for him” (Zephaniah 1:6, KJV).
As God’s people, we are commanded “that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God” (Colossians 1:10).
We are also told, “Thou shalt have no other gods before me” (Exodus 20:3, KJV), yet too many believers turn away from God, no longer seeking to spend time in His presence, willing to spend that precious time in other ways.
When the knowledge of God fills our hearts, the result will always be prayer.
A Prayer for Today
Father, I seek You today. I seek Your knowledge. I ask You to fill my heart. And I want to spend time in Your presence. Please receive my heartfelt gratitude for giving me salvation and Your abundant life. Thank You for speaking to me and helping me to listen. Help me act upon hearing Your voice. I open my heart to You. Guide my steps today as You provide answers to all my questions. I pray this in Jesus’ name, amen.
