Summary:
Responsible for ensuring proper recording of financial and business transactions. Analyzes data for financial reporting. Prepares books for audit, year-end close and tax filings. Some review/direction of team member work. Significant GL clean-up project that will require this individual to reconcile accounts over multiple years. Reports to Comptroller.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and examine accounting records, financial statements, taxes, and other financial reports
- Lead audit work and communication for all international and domestic offices
- Analyze, setup and depreciate fixed assets
- Perform closing procedures for year-end
- Compile tax returns and governmental filings for international and domestic offices
- Prepare journal entries and re-class entries as needed
- Reconciliations and review: balance sheet, bank, expense postings, payroll accounts, etc
- Maintain accounts receivable
- Value inventory
- Create new processes to improve financial efficiency
- Develop and analyze reporting for business operations and budgets
- Report analysis and findings to management team
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience of 5+ years with thorough knowledge and understanding of Accounting theory and practice
- Experience and proficiency in non-profit sector strongly preferred
- Strong working knowledge of Accounting software (preferably Great Plains); experience in implementation of software and troubleshooting a plus
- Self-starter with ability to work well independently or collaboratively
- Ability to create and work in moderate to complex spreadsheets
- Experience working with foreign exchange and inter-company accounts preferred
- Person of integrity with the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Detail and deadline oriented with keen analytical skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
