Today’s Key Scripture

Whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight.”

— 1 John 3:22

The apostle Stephen’s life shows he was a man who was faithful to what God called him. He also was a powerful example of how the anointing can increase upon us as we yield our life to the Lord’s mighty infilling presence:

The saying pleased the whole multitude. And they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit, and Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas, a proselyte from Antioch, whom they set before the apostles; and when they had prayed, they laid hands on them. Then the word of God spread, and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests were obedient to the faith. And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and signs among the people. (Acts 6:5-8)

We cannot operate in the power of God until we have the faith that brings us up to that position. In other words, our level of faith must increase before our level of anointing increases with it.

Once faith begins to increase, the anointing becomes stronger and penetrates our entire being.

Corrie ten Boom said it this way: “Faith sees the invisible, believes the unbelievable, and receives the impossible.”

The apostle Stephen understood this.

For you and me, each level of faith and anointing begins with prayer.

A Prayer for Today

Father God, I pray today that You will move the Spirit more boldly in my life. Help me yearn for Your presence more than I desire sin or any distraction that would keep me from You. Help me grow in the fruits of the Spirit. Give me the revelation that leads me to walk closer with You. I pray for guidance from Your Spirit to know Your perfect will. Anoint me afresh. Pour Your anointing over me. Help me avoid withholding any of myself from You. I pray this in the glorious name of Jesus, amen.
