Today’s Key Scripture (all references NKJV unless otherwise noted:

He also taught me, and said to me: “Let your heart retain my words; keep my commands, and live. Get wisdom! Get understanding! Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth. Do not forsake her, and she will preserve you; love her, and she will keep you. Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.”

—Proverbs 4:4-7

God seeks to lead through His voice, for He knows that wisdom from Him is the best road to an abundant life.

A road or path is a common example throughout the Bible. Wisdom allows you to walk uprightly, so that you will not stumble through the paths of life. Wisdom means hearing and doing God’s Word as you walk out your faith. That is why the fear of the Lord is the beginning of all true wisdom.

Here are four ways to get wisdom:

  • Understand the fact that true wisdom comes from God (Proverbs 2:6).
  • Ask God for wisdom (James 1:5). If you want wisdom, ask!
  • Desire wisdom with all of your heart (Proverbs 2:3-5).
  • Apply yourself to the study and understanding of God’s Word (Psalm 19:7), for the more you devote yourself to God’s Holy Word, the more you open yourself up to the greatest wisdom in the universe.

Do you want to hear God’s voice? True wisdom begins when you learn to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Seek God’s wisdom every day as you study, pray, and stay in communion with Him!

A Prayer for Today:

Father, I desire close communion with You. Help me to understand You better, even as I seek to see through Your eyes. Help me to hear Your voice. Give me Your wisdom, for I ask it from You today and always. Thank You for You love, forgiveness, righteousness, compassion, goodness, and glory. May I always seek to reflect You through my life. Guide my steps today as I trust my life to You, Lord. I pray this in Your Name, Amen!
