Today’s Key Scripture

“They heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden. And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou? And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.”

— Genesis 3:8-10, KJV

Prayerlessness began in the garden of Eden. It is a direct result of the fall of man.

When sin entered into the hearts of Adam and Eve, they hid themselves from the presence of the Lord. Hiding from the presence of the Lord is prayerlessness. It was sin that caused Adam and Eve to hide from God.

When sin entered into the hearts of Adam and Eve, they hid themselves from the Lord’s presence. Notice that they hid from the Lord, not in the Lord. We are commanded to hide in Him, not from Him. Hiding from Him is to remain in prayerlessness and brings failure in life. Hiding in Him is to remain in prayer and brings closeness and intimacy with God, and victory in life to overcome every challenge that comes your way.

When we hide in Him, we are protected from the Enemy, but when we hide from God, we cannot be protected.

Prayerlessness is the cause of misery and ruin in the lives of so many. And prayerlessness is a sin, for God commands us to seek Him, not to hide from Him.

Prayerlessness is not a weakness; it is a sin. To receive deliverance from this sin and to begin an effective prayer, repent from the sin of prayerlessness.

The Lord becomes our refuge and fortress, our deliverer and coverer, our shield and our buckler, only when we hide in Him in prayer.

A Prayer for Today

Dear Lord, I ask for victory over sin today! Help me to rely completely upon You. Help me realize that You are patiently working everything out for my good, even when I don’t understand what You are doing. I need Your help day by day. I need Your forgiveness. I desire Your anointing. I need You in all Your fullness and power. And I pray this in the name of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, amen.
