Today’s Key Scripture

“Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved, but he who does not believe will be condemned.”

— Mark 16:15-16

Charles Spurgeon (1834–1892) preached the Gospel of Christ with power, eventually leading untold multitudes to our Lord Jesus. He was also known as a mighty prayer warrior. He said:

I believe, then, that the first thing the Spirit does is this: He finds the sinner dead in sin, just where Adam left him; He breathes into him a divine influence. The sinner knows nothing about how it is done, nor do any of us understand it. As the Scripture says, “The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whiter it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit” (John 3:8).

If the anointing is to be present in your life, you must pray to open your life so that the wind of the Holy Spirit can blow into you freely. As you do, God will answer your prayers, and you will be filled with power to share the life-changing message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

This is one of our most important reasons for being a believer here on earth. The anointing comes to help us reach and serve others.

God desires a yielded vessel, someone who is willing to surrender to follow His call during the challenging days ahead. And constant contact with Him is the key to that kind of power.

The Lord wants to do something mighty in your life. Just call upon His name. Even God’s Son said, “Not My will, but Yours, be done” (Luke 22:42). And as you yield to Him, He will use you mightily.

A Prayer for Today

Father in heaven, I pray that You would blow the winds of the Holy Spirit over me, even as You fill me and use me as Your vessel to reach out to others. I speak usefulness, fulfillment, and victory over every area of my life. I choose You today—Your plan, Your holiness, and Your guidance. Reveal the areas in my life that are not surrendered to You, and help me prevail on Your path, even as I seek balance in every area of my walk with You. I humbly pray all these things in Jesus’ precious name, amen.
