Today’s Key Scripture (all references NKJV unless otherwise noted:

And it came to pass, when God destroyed the cities of the plain, that God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when He overthrew the cities in which Lot had dwelt.

—Genesis 19:29

Sodom and Gomorrah were cities of depravity and immorality. Scripture records:

So Lot went out and spoke to his sons-in-law, who had married his daughters, and said, “Get up, get out of this place; for the Lord will destroy this city!” But to his sons-in-law he seemed to be joking.

(Genesis 19:14).

Lot wasn’t taken seriously. He was not only living in fear (Genesis 19:19), but his clear instruction was ignored even by his wife. She was so attached to the world that she “looked back behind him, and she became a pillar of salt” (Genesis 19:26).

Despite all the controversy and turmoil, God honored His covenant with Abraham and his family. Lot was rescued from a terrible fate, all because of his uncle’s prayers.

We must all learn to stand on the Word and intercede for others. Jesus even told us to pray for our adversaries: “But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you” (Matthew 5:44).

A Prayer for Today:

Father God, today I pray for those who are lost and without hope. I lift  up those in my family, my neighborhood, my region, and all around the world who don’t know You as Savior and Lord. Help me reflect Your love and concern for them. I pray for divine appointments today that will open doors to Your Word. Allow me as a covenant believer to be a living and faithful witness for You. Help me speak the words people need to hear. Help me to lead people to You. God, with all my heart I pray for the world to know You and Your love for them. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
