Today’s Key Scripture (all references NKJV unless otherwise noted:

Since we first heard about you, we’ve kept you always in our prayers that you would receive the perfect knowledge of God’s pleasure over your lives, making you reservoirs of every kind of wisdom and spiritual understanding.

— Colossians 1:9, TPT

I’ve heard people begin their petition with, “Please, Lord…” They plead and cry for God’s favor. That is the wrong approach. Instead, come to the Lord knowing exactly what He has promised you. “Father, Your Word says…” At that moment the Spirit will begin to quicken your spirit, your mind, and your body. He will help bring the Word to your remembrance.

Don’t just flip through your Bible looking for the promises of God. Spend time every day in Scripture until precept after precept is buried in your very being. Then, when you begin to pray, those words will rise to the surface.

It is the believer’s responsibility to place knowledge deep in the heart so God can use it when praying in the Spirit.

We are told, “Beloved friends, what should be our proper response to God’s marvelous mercies? To surrender yourselves to God to be his sacred, living sacrifices. And live in holiness, experiencing all that delights his heart. For this becomes your genuine expression of worship” (Romans 12:11-2, TPT).

Before prayer, fill yourself with the Word!

A Prayer for Today:

Father in heaven, I thank You for Your Word that comes alive in me. I pray for the wonderful and divine access to Your spiritual realm. Open wide the doors of heaven and pour Yourself upon my life. I want to be with You, spend time in Your presence, and draw closer to You with every passing day. Lord, op[en the doors of heaven over my life, even as you supernaturally close all doors of evil, Keep me holy, pure, and true, even as I continually draw closer to You. Amen!
