Today’s Key Scripture (all references NKJV unless otherwise noted:

Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.

— Mark 11:24

Starting with a summer workshop in 1973, dear friends Merv and Merla Watson organized “Shekinah,” a production of worship and praise, and they asked me to be part of the team. Everything was first-class—music, inspirational dancers, and banners—and more than 90 young people participated in the first Toronto concert.

Soon after, the Watsons decided to take the production on a tour through Europe during most of the summer of 1974. As the summer approached, 63 of us had been invited and were planning to go to Europe.

But I had two problems. First, my father had absolutely forbidden me to go. Second, I was required to give my paychecks from my job to my father, so I had no funds for such a trip.

Sill, as I read God’s word and prayed, I truly became convinced that God would make a way.

After the final rehearsal, the Watsons told me that the Lord had instructed them to pay for my air fare. So good, so far! My father still had to be convinced.

When I told my father about the generous gift, he finally gave in, reached into his pocket, and handed me $25, and I was on my way to a life-changing tour!

When you pray, believe!

A Prayer for Today:

Father God, thank You for opening my heart and mind to the endless possibilities through You. Thank You for enlightening my mind to the light of Your Word. Protect me from wrong thinking and focusing on the challenges. Instead, help me to focus on You who are perfect, great in mercy, longsuffering toward me, and filled with creative solutions to every problem I face. Deliver me from the attacks of the enemy and from my own self-doubts. Fill me with Your pure teaching. May I glorify You in word and deed today. I pray this in the Name above all names, Amen!
