Today’s Key Scripture

“You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you.”

— Acts 1:8

In 1972, while still a teenager, I asked Jesus Christ to come into my heart. Then in 1973, I was invited to attend a Kathryn Kuhlman meeting in Pittsburgh. It was there that I heard her talking in a most unusual way about the Holy Spirit: “He’s more real than anything in this world.”

On the drive back to my home in Toronto, I wondered, “How can I have what Kathryn Kuhlman has?” And in my bedroom and with a searching, innocent heart, I remember asking the Holy Spirit, Can I meet You? Can I really meet You?

From that moment, He truly began making Himself real to me, and I quickly learned how precious and lovely His presence could be. I began greeting Him at daybreak when I awakened with the words, “Good morning, Holy Spirit!” That’s how real He became. And during the coming days and weeks, He began showing me how much He desired an intensely intimate fellowship with me and each of His children.

This walk became the basis for my bestselling book with those simple four words as the title. And today, more than a half-century after this once-secret journey began, I can say with everything in me, especially in this Good Morning, Holy Spirit, Daily Devotional, how important it is for you to seek Him with all of your being. As you do this, our Lord promises: “You shall seek Me, and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 29:13).

A Prayer for Today

Heavenly Father, I ask You to reveal Yourself in a personal and powerful way to me in the coming days. I pray that during this intimate time with You every day, I will find it easier and easier to spend priceless time in Your presence—today, tomorrow, and throughout my life. I pray this in the mighty name of Jesus, amen.
