Today’s Key Scripture (all references NKJV unless otherwise noted:

But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.                           — Hebrews 11:6

French daredevil acrobat Charles Blondin (1824–1897) gained fame as the very first person to walk across Niagara Falls on a tightrope. The amazing feat, and many other crossings, gained Blondin international recognition, drew larger and larger crowds, and helped make him a wealthy entertainer.

In 1859, he crossed the Falls while carrying his manager on his back. In 1860 he walked across on stilts. Other times, he stopped in the middle to do tricks or pose for photos.

In September of 1960, reportedly the Prince of Wales was in the crowd who saw him carry his assistant across the tightrope. “Do you believe I can go back and forth again?” “Yes!” exclaimed the crowd. “Good,” Blondin said to the Prince, “get on my back and I’ll carry you.” According to the story, the daredevil asked others in the crowd the same question. All of them believed he could cross Niagara Falls, but understandably, none were willing to be part of the act.

Faith in God, however, requires more than being a spectator. It means trusting God to carry you across the chasms! It’s sad that many believers don’t understand what faith in God really means.

If you want a stronger relationship with Him, trust is required!

A Prayer for Today:

Father, I don’t want to be a mere spectator. I want to trust You in all of Your fullness and splendor. I do trust You. Help me to trust You more. I’m so thankful that You are trustworthy. You are faithful in all of Your promises, I believe that You will accomplish all that You intend in this world and that You want to use me for Your purpose. Thank You for desiring to communicate with me. I pray all this in Your name, Amen!
