Today’s Key Scripture (all references NKJV unless otherwise noted:

That He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, hat Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height—to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

——Ephesians 3:16-19

My encounter with the Holy Spirit after attending a Kathryn Kuhlman meeting in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was the beginning of God’s discipleship program for my life. Hour after hour, day after day, I prayed with my Bible open as the Spirit unveiled the truths of God’s Word. The Holy Spirit promised to be my Counselor and Guide and He has never, ever disappointed me.

Paul, directed by the Holy Spirit to write a significant part of the New Testament, understood discipleship and demonstrated what it meant to be a follower of Jesus. From experience, and with authority, he said, “For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Ephesians 3:14).  Then he prayed that we would know:

  • Strength (verse 16)
  • Faith (verse 17)
  • The Fullness of God (verse 18)

The deeper dimension of discipleship requires and leads to maturity in strength, faith, and the fullness of God in every area of your life!

And it is through Spirit-directed prayer that we become the people God wants us to be. “But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit” (Jude 1:20).

A Prayer for Today:

O Lord, I seek Your strength, faith, and fullness. I ask that You have mercy upon me, a sinner saved by grace through faith in You. I confess my faults to you, and I humbly bow before you, asking for your tender mercies and a deeper dimension of discipleship. Thank you for Your promises of forgiveness, restoration, and guidance. Grant that I may live pleasing in your sight, seeking Your will, and giving all glory to You. Amen!
