Today’s Key Scripture (all references NKJV unless otherwise noted:

But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

—Matthew 6:7-8, KJV

What the Lord has prepared for those who love Him is beyond human comprehension. It cannot be seen with the eye or heard with the ear. In the next six devotionals, let me share a half-dozen dimensions of the wonders of heaven that can be yours through prayer, starting with a dimension of desire.

Your first step in approaching God needs to be, “Lord, give me the desire to pray.” Suddenly, you move from the natural to the supernatural and three things begin to happen inside:

  1. Your heart will be prepared by the Spirit.
  2. He will bring the Word to your remembrance.
  3. You will begin to pray from your heart, not your mind.

In the land of Judah, “they had sworn with all their heart, and sought him with their whole desire; and he was found of them” (2 Chronicles 15:15, KJV).

Spiritual hunger precedes personal revival. From our soul, we need to say as the psalmist, “Lord, all my desire is before You; And my sighing is not hidden from You” (Psalm 38:9, KJV).

Oh, what a transformation you’ll experience when you begin to pray from desire rather than by design or vain repetition!

A Prayer for Today:

My heavenly Father, help me to live today in obedience and surrender to You. Prepare my heart. Bring the Word to my remembrance. Guide me as I begin to pray from my heart, not my mind. I pray that You, precious Holy Spirit, will reveal God Almighty as my Abba Father, and that You will usher me into the Father’s living presence so that I can grow closer to You, become more like You, and see my prayers become supernaturally effective. I pray all this in the name of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Amen!
