Today’s Key Scripture

“You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

— Acts 1:8

You can understand the Holy Spirit better as you discover His work in your midst. One of the greatest things the Holy Spirit does is to change people as He moves us into deeper dimensions with God. He changes people from the inside out—our lives, our circumstances, our perspectives.

Dr. Billy Graham taught, “The Holy Spirit illuminates the minds of people, makes us yearn for God, and takes spiritual truth and makes it understandable to us.”

And the end result is holiness.

Oswald Chambers once wrote, “Holiness is the remaking of our inward and hidden desires and affections when the Holy Spirit of God dwells in our mortal bodies.”

The Bible explains it this way:

So roll up your sleeves, get your head in the game, be totally ready to receive the gift that’s coming when Jesus arrives. Don’t lazily slip back into those old grooves of evil, doing just what you feel like doing. You didn’t know any better then; you do now. As obedient children, let yourselves be pulled into a way of life shaped by God’s life, a life energetic and blazing with holiness. God said, “I am holy; you be holy.” (1 Peter 1:13-16, msg)

He wants to change you from the inside out!

A Prayer for Today

Good morning, Holy Spirit! I want to move into a deeper dimension with You. I’m so grateful that You keep pointing to my absolute need to spend time with You in intimate communion. I want to know You better this year. I want more of You and less of me. Teach me Your ways. Thank You for revealing Yourself through Your Word. I surrender myself to You. Please help me even when I lack faith and understanding. I am depending upon You daily. Help me be holy, as You are holy. I pray this in Jesus’ precious name, amen.
