Today’s Key Scripture (all references NKJV unless otherwise noted:

Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession [a]for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

— Romans 8:26

Through the years, I’ve meet so many people who want to start out as the next Elijah, Peter, Paul, Charles Finney, D.L. Moody, or Kathryn Kuhlman. More than one young person has come up to me and said, “Oh, if I could only preach like Billy Graham!”

To become like these great men and women of God has nothing to do with speaking ability or “technique.” I can tell you without hesitation that when the Spirit of God fully rests upon your life, you will be used mightily of the Lord.

Every individual who has the prefix “great” or “renowned” attached to his or her name started at the same level. They all had struggles and barriers to overcome.

When I ask people, “What is the great longing of your soul?” they often tell me: “I want the presence of God on my life. I want to truly know Him.” That is the first step!

Yet with great desire, we all fight weakness, so Jesus said, “Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak” (Matthew 26:41, KJV).

The Holy Spirit is ready to help—to take hold of—our infirmities, and to help us pray when we don’t know how!

A Prayer for Today:

Father in heaven, in myself, I have so many shortcomings. I want to do great things for You, but I hesitate to go through the process where I can be used of You. One thing I know—You never fail! Your word promises that I can be confident that You’ve begun a good work in me and that You will complete it! I’m trusting You daily, Lord, no matter the circumstances around me or what the enemy tries to do. What You have promised will come to pass! I desire Your will, Lord, not my will. I surrender to You and am confident that You know best with every step I take. I pray today that You will be glorified through my thoughts, words, and deeds. I pray this in Your mighty Name, Amen!
