Today’s Key Scripture

“Thus says the Holy Spirit, ‘So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man who owns this belt, and deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.’”

— Acts 21:11

At times God has given me a specific word of prophecy for someone. Sometimes this will happen as an individual stands before me on the platform in the crusades. So far, however, the Lord has never asked of me what he asked of Agabus (who was also used mightily, as recorded in Acts 11, to forewarn the apostles of impending challenges).

When the Holy Spirit spoke through Agabus to Paul, this bold apostle did not shrink from delivering it. At Caesarea, Agabus walked up to the apostle, took Paul’s belt, and bound it around his own hands and feet. Then he spoke clearly (verse 11). Only a man who had a mighty relationship with the Lord could make such a declaration.

This word from Agabus gave Paul insight into the difficult days ahead of him. He responded, “What do you mean by weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus” (Acts 21:13).

When we receive insight, it makes us bold and loyal, even unto death. When you know the Holy Spirit, you will see beyond the temporal, and not even death will frighten you.

A Prayer for Today

My heavenly Father, I ask for Your anointing and insight today, no matter what comes my way. I thank you for being my ever-present Help in times of uncertainty and trouble. Again and again, I’ve seen Your faithfulness, just as You promised in Your Word. Even when I’m tempted and tried, You are faithful, always providing a way so I can endure and succeed. Give me the strength to overcome everything that stands against me today. Nurture and guide me through Your unfailing love. I pray all this in the name above all names, Jesus, amen.
