Today’s Key Scripture

“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.”

— Romans 8:14

Too often we think of prayer as a quick series of requests—one “gimme” after another. Nothing could be further from the truth!

A strong prayer life is a relationship as we seek God’s direction and will. And one of the blessed benefits from a strong prayer bond is that the Holy Spirit will keep us from making the wrong decisions in our life.

God’s Spirit wants to help us by guiding our steps, just as a natural parent would help a son or daughter. So many of the psalms reflect how God wants to instruct and teach His children in the way we should go. God desires to guide each of us with His wisdom.

As we surrender to the Lord, He will bring us into abundant life where we will never thirst again. The Holy Spirit alone can lead us to higher ground.

The anointing that comes by spending time in His presence will bring clarity to your mind and a new fire to your heart. Simply give Him your whole life today, and as you do, He will anoint you with fresh oil.

What do you do with God’s anointing that you receive during prayer? You simply serve Him as the unique vessel He created you to be. That’s the purpose of His anointing.

 

A Prayer for Today

Father, I thank You for Your plentiful, overflowing grace and protection. I’m so grateful that I don’t have to work and struggle to earn even a single drop of the mighty river of grace that flows freely over me today. Thank You for the unmerited favor of this abundant life. Help me to stay on the path that You illuminate with Your Word. Keep me safe in the knowledge that meeting with You regularly allows me to drink deeply of the water of life. I worship You, precious Holy Spirit, for leading me to higher ground. And I pray all this in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, amen.
