Key Scripture:
So when they heard that, they raised their voice to God with one accord and said: “Lord, You are God, who made heaven and earth and the sea, and all that is in them.
—Acts 4:24
Speaking the truth often comes with a price, as the early Christians experienced. The apostles preached with boldness. Healings took place. Thousands were added to the church. And when the political and religious leaders were “greatly disturbed that they taught the people and preached in Jesus the resurrection from the dead. And they laid hands on them, and put them in custody until the next day, for it was already evening” (Acts 4:2-3).
Peter and John were imprisoned for proclaiming the message of Christ, yet the mighty move continued! Then, after the release of the apostles, the believers joined together to praise the Lord. What happened was significant:
And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness. And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common. And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all. (Acts 4:31-33)
Agreement releases both power and grace. And it can do the same for you, too!
A Prayer for Today:
Heavenly Father, I humbly request that Your Holy Spirit’s mighty presence will engulf me even now—today—as I seek to stand upon Your promises and seek to live my life in agreement with other believers! I ask You to draw me ever closer to You. I open my heart to You. Take control of my life. Let me dwell in sweet intimacy with You every day of my life as I learn to stand and walk in Your precious promises. And help me to walk in harmony with others so that Your anointing and grace will be unleashed all around me. I ask this in Your most precious name, my Savior and my Lord, Jesus Christ. Amen, and Amen!
