Your Economic Destiny

Your Economic Destiny

  • The Word teaches us how to have a blessed life.

  • The Lord wants us to move into His divine overflow.

  • Your economic destiny is more than scraping by or barely making ends meet.

As I’ve mentioned in recent teachings, I’ve recently spent more time in study and prayer. Today, from the deepest part of my heart, the Lord wants to speak to you about His design for your life. You were born and designed to be blessed!

The Lord has placed a burden on my heart to share this word with you today. Right now, my faith is so great for you as we move into this intense season of anointing for economic abundance.

God desires to bless you!

Your economic destiny is more than scraping by. It is more than you can begin to imagine—so much more!

The Bible shows us how to prosper with specifics that really work. The Word teaches us how to have a blessed life — spiritually, emotionally, physically, and financially.

I mention economics because money is a large part of our lives. According to a recent study by the American Psychological Association, 90 percent of us are stressed about our finances. Other studies show that up to 90 percent of our time is spent thinking about finances. God cares about this for us, because there is so much written about economics and prosperity in the Bible.

I want you to understand that God has given each covenant believer the anointing for wealth. I am convinced of this now more than ever. God designed us to be blessed financially. He has already given us a path to plenty if we do the right things. Those “things” are what I want to share with you now.

God has already divinely designed your economic destiny!

One thing I’ve seen in Israel through the years is that Jewish people prosper for one reason: they live under the covenant blessings of Abraham (Genesis 12:3).

We, who are in Christ, are under the same blessings: “And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise” (Galatians 3:29).

What does this mean to you and me today—right now?

We are told, “A faithful man will abound with blessings” (Proverbs 28:20). Abound means overflow. So why aren’t all of God’s people blessed and abounding? It’s because too many believers are not faithful. That is a fact of Scripture.

It took me a long time to understand God’s economic design and desires. I had gone to Franciscan schools that engrained the idea into my young mind that we only get to go to heaven if we live a life of poverty.

When I was saved in 1972, I began reading the Bible for myself and realized that what God said about economics was very different from what I had been taught in those schools.

  • I read, “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers” (3 John 2).
  • Then I found this in Proverbs 13:22: “The wealth of the sinner is stored up for the righteous.” That was God’s promise, not something I made up.
  • And look at this shocker: “The blessing of the Lord makes one rich, and He adds no sorrow with it” (Proverbs 10:22).

It was obvious to me that I needed to learn more about what the Bible really teaches about my economic destiny and what I needed to do to move into His ageless promises!

Man Studying Bible

Your Economic Heritage

God’s Word is filled with promises for your financial future: “Let the Lord be magnified, Who has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant” (Psalm 35:27).

Your prosperity gives Him pleasure! God doesn’t get angry when you prosper, the devil does. The Lord wants us to move into His divine overflow.

Why, then, do we act as if God desired poverty for His children? Why can’t we simply take Him at His Word?

Obviously, we have to rethink so much of what we’ve been taught.

Try saying these words out loud: “I have a blessed economic destiny. I am blessed. I was born to be blessed.” It probably feels foreign to you, but it shouldn’t. You weren’t created to live unblessed.

The Bible begins with blessings and ends with blessings. When Jesus began His first sermon, He said, “Blessed are they” (Matthew 5).

God said, “I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live” (Deuteronomy 30:19). You are blessed, not cursed!

There are so many awesome promises in the Bible about our economic heritage— so much more than worrying about money, paying bills, and scrambling to meet our needs.

Your economic destiny is more than scraping by or barely making ends meet. It is so much more than you can begin to imagine. You were designed to be blessed beyond measure!

God Bases His Blessings on Obedience

God wants you to live in overflow, but in legal terms, He offers a “something-for-something” quid pro quo contract:

Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the Lord your God will set you high above all nations of the earth. (Deuteronomy 28:1)

The words diligently obey (hearken in the King James Version) does not just mean “to listen.” It means to believe it, trust it, and to observe and do (faith in action) according to every commandment God gives us.

For believers today under the New Covenant, we are called to believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The children of Israel had to obey 613 commandments in the Old Covenant. Think how tough it was for them! Yet when they hearkened and obeyed, they prospered, just as God promised!

We often make trusting in God and taking Him at His Word so difficult, even impossible, but it’s so simple to trust Him and do as He commands.

Look in the next verse from Deuteronomy: “And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God” (28:2).

Read all of Deuteronomy 28:1-17. God has designed blessing after blessing to flow over you, but only if you obey and trust Him!

God wants to raise up an army of people He can trust. He wants to establish His covenant people.

He asks, “Whom can I trust to bless? Whom can I trust to prosper beyond imagination?”

It’s all about faith and trust!

Our Lord is looking for faithful men and women who will receive super-natural abilities to allow them to receive wealth. My deepest desire is for you to step into God’s design for your economic destiny.

He promises, “No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly” (Psalm 84:11).

He also tells us:

Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy. Let them do good, that they are rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share, storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come. (1 Timothy 6:17-19)

Please know that stepping into your economic destiny is not just about money. It means trusting the Lord as your Source to build a solid foundation and protection for whatever lies ahead. It means trusting in Him to protect you, to meet your specific needs, and to bless you right now.

But first, let me ask…

What needs do you have—right now—in your life?

Without reservation, I can tell you that whatever you face right now, God wants to make a divine connection to each of your needs. The answer is in your seed. Never underestimate the power of your seed!

When you put whatever you have into God’s hands, you give Him something to work with. No matter how small your faith seems to be, God can multiply what you offer Him and meet your needs beyond all expectations.

As you give this week, trust in God’s Word as you make Him your Source. Wrap your seed in the heavenly power we call faith. Then expect God to be faithful to His iron-clad promises. Let faith be the power behind your giving, and He will not fail you!
