The Necessity of a Fresh Anointing

How to Move into a New Spiritual Atmosphere!

  • All you need in life can be found in God’s mighty presence!

  • Though God’s Word remains constant and sure, His Spirit is always moving.

  • Moving from unrighteousness to yielding to righteousness is a lifelong challenge.

We are told in Psalm 91 what happens to those who learn to dwell in the “secret place of the Most High.” Not only can we “abide under the shadow of the Almighty,” but He will be our refuge and fortress as He delivers us from the enemy’s snares and pestilences. We won’t have to be afraid of terrors, for “there shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.”

How do we get into that secret place of the Most High where we can find a precious anointing of blessing, healing, protection, favor, and so much more? The psalmist points to the necessity of dwelling daily in the presence of the Lord, literally abiding in Him, experiencing wave after wave of His fresh anointing! But how do we prepare…?

We are moving into a fresh new season of anointing, and in preparation, God has impressed upon my heart again and again that it is time for believers to prepare for the coming wave of outpouring.

How about you? In today’s uncertain times, do you need His favor and protection against the storms of life?

Are you ready to move into God’s fresh anointing?

All you need in life can be found in God’s mighty presence!

If you need a miracle (and desire a fresh anointing for a life of miracles), move into His presence and discover what our Lord has in store for you.

The necessity of the Holy Spirit’s Daily Anointing

It does not matter who you are or what experience you’ve had in the past. Sometimes the greatest hindrance to what God wants to do in your life today is relying on what God did yesterday.

Just as the children of Israel were instructed to gather fresh manna every day except on the Sabbath (Exodus 16),

We are told:

Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert. (Isaiah 43:18-19, NKJV).

Jesus Himself taught His disciples to pray, “Give us this day our daily bread” (Matthew 6:11, NKJV).

He then pointed to the necessity of an eternal, personal relationship with Him:

I am the bread of life. Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and are dead. This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that one may eat of it and not die. I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world. (John 6:48-51, NKJV)

Though God’s Word remains constant and sure, His Spirit is always moving; He is not doing the same thing today that He did yesterday. You must never be so caught up in past experiences with the Lord that you miss what He is saying and doing right now.

Just as in the times of old when the gathering of fresh manna was required daily, a new anointing requires fresh oil every day!

Jesus said, “It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4, NKJV). Notice that the Word of God says “proceeds,” which is present tense.

That requires fresh fellowship.

Many wonderful and well-meaning saints are empty today because they are hanging on to what God spoke to them in the past. How He moved and guided yesterday was perfect and right for then, but God is the God of the present, right now. He is speaking today, and it is up to you to listen to His voice.

Intercessory Prayer - enewsletter - Benny Hinn Ministries

It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness (Lamentations 3:22-23).

There is simply no other way to live now, have power now, and operate in God’s anointing now than to live by the Word that proceeds out of His mouth now.

Keep in mind, throughout the following paragraphs, I will use the term “daily” about the Holy Spirit’s anointing. More accurately, these guidelines should be something that takes place throughout each day!

Prepare for a Fresh Anointing by Yielding to the Holy Spirit Daily

To move into a fresh anointing, we must spend intimate time in His presence every day. To do this, we must begin each day by yielding to the Holy Spirit.

We are told,

“Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God” (Romans 6:13 KJV).

This is the tough part!

Moving from unrighteousness to yielding to righteousness is a lifelong challenge. Just because you receive Jesus Christ as Savior and the Holy Spirit’s infilling, you are not insulated from spiritual “pruning” and discipline.

In fact, most mountaintop experiences are followed by wilderness times. It was certainly that way with the Savior: “Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, being forty days tempted of the devil” (Luke 4:1-2 KJV).

I believe the wilderness era teaches authority. When we go through trials, we can only be successful by yielding to the Holy Spirit during both good and difficult times.

Yielding continually not only opens us to fresh waves of anointing but also helps us mature in the Lord.

All of us start out as spiritual babies. We want everything right now. We demand answers to our smallest problems. We whine when we don’t get our way. Yet when we yield to the Holy Spirit, we gain a seasoned ability to be led by the Holy Spirit. We learn God’s timing; it is a step-by-step process of dying to our own desires and surrendering to the Father’s.

It begins with an ever-growing hunger and thirst for Him. The freshness of the anointing then comes supernaturally!

Jesus said, “If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink” (John 7:37 KJV). How hungry are you to see the power of God at work in your life? He measures your hunger by your desire to do what He wants, to seek His guidance, to surrender to His will.

And only then can we be used effectively to impact our world. When we are told in Scripture to “be filled with the Spirit” (Ephesians 5:18) it is not a mere piece of advice. It is not a suggestion. It is a direct order from heaven! It is God’s command. And it is a prerequisite for a continual freshness of the anointing.

Why? Our Father knows that we cannot do all we must do without being empowered by His fresh anointing, and we cannot be empowered or anointed without yielding to Him day by day, hour by hour, as we seek a fresh anointing to fulfill the Great Commission during our lifetime.

Prepare for the fresh anointing by yielding to Him continually!

Prepare for a Fresh Anointing Through Daily Worship

For me, preparation has always been closely tied to worship, and worship has often been linked to music.

The apostle Paul, writing under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, told the church to teach and admonish each other with worshipful melodies:

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. (Colossians 3:16)

Two of the first passages from the Bible that I committed to memory were these:

O come, let us sing unto the Lord: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms. For the Lord is a great God. (Psalm 95:1-3)

Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the Lord he is God. (Psalm 100:1-3)

As a young Christian, I was blessed by going to a wonderful church in Toronto, where I was introduced to marvelous uplifting music by Jim Poynter, a precious Free Methodist minister and one of my most precious fathers in the faith. What glorious memories I have of those church services—Jim playing along on his accordion in the church as we sang hymn after hymn. The music, the worship, and the truth in the words we sang changed my life forever.

Anointed psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs lift our faith and inspire us to worship our wonderful Lord Jesus with glorious expressions of adoration and praise. That’s why we have always sung many of these majestic hymns at our crusades, Miracle Services, and conferences. People everywhere let us know how much they love these timeless treasures.

And after all these years, I am more convinced than ever of the vital importance of entering into God’s anointing and presence through worship.

I listen to anointed music again and again during my own time with the Lord. There is simply nothing to compare to the majesty and atmosphere that worship music provides.

Prepare for the Fresh Anointing by Immersing Yourself in God’s Word

The Word of God tells us, “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17, NKJV).

We are promised,

“So shall my word be that goes forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it” (Isaiah 55:11, KJV).

People who attend our in-person or Zoom Healing Services or watch broadcasts on television know the value I place on reading God’s Word aloud.

My sermons and teaching aren’t filled with flowery phrases or meaningless thoughts—they center on the foundational truths found in passages from Genesis to Revelation. The clear-cut emphasis on the Bible is the reason why the saving and healing anointing flows in our services and ministry.

And as you pray and experience the intimate presence of God, you should keep the Bible before you. The Holy Spirit will take you to passages, and He will teach you. And when you are troubled over a passage, ask Him about it. He will show you.

The Bible says very plainly that He is your Teacher as you abide in Him (1 John 2:27).

Reading God’s Word and immersing yourself in His promises are crucial for you. Your life will be changed as you enter into God’s presence daily and spend increasing amounts of time in the Bible!

Prepare for the Fresh Anointing by Spending Time in God’s Presence

People often hear my teaching on moving from the Outer Court to the Holy Place and eventually the Holy of Holies. They ask, “How do you learn to spend time in His presence?”

This requires diligence. You must place the greatest of priorities on spending time with Him. You must sacrifice the flesh and things of the flesh. The cost is great.

But is it worth the price you must pay? Ask anyone who has truly entered God’s presence for any length of time. The second you move into the Holy of Holies, you cannot help but be touched by His light and the freshness of His anointing!

The psalmist describes this place:

Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; mercy and truth go before Your face. Blessed are the people who know the joyful sound! They walk, O Lord, in the light of our countenance. In Your name, they rejoice all day long, and in Your righteousness they are exalted. (Psalm 89:14-16, NKJV)

All these are waiting for you in the throne room where the fresh anointing flows freely. There is joy unspeakable in the Presence of God. When you are there, you understand, more than ever before, God’s all-sufficiency.

In His Presence, you will truly know what it means to be more than a conqueror. You will be able to witness with a boldness, unlike anything you’ve ever experienced. Your focus on heaven becomes clearer than you can imagine.

God’s Challenge to You

Do you want to experience God’s fresh anointing and intimate presence in this way?

Woman in Worship

Are you willing to pay the price?

He’s waiting for you in a place described by the apostle Paul:

But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord. (2 Corinthians 3:18 NKJV)

Are you willing to seek Him with your whole heart, to thirst and hunger for Him throughout each day?

This is what it means to experience a fresh daily anointing, and this is my prayer for you today!

Seeking God’s Fresh Anointing, Sharing His Love with Others

I urge you to do two things beginning today:

  1. Seek His fresh anointing daily. Seek Him continually with all of your heart, and He will give you peace that you have never known before. Spend time with Him, for true prayer and spending time in His presence will bring the peace of God back into your life.
  1. Help me tell others about our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We are surrounded by people of all ages and backgrounds who are in trouble—spiritually, mentally, and physically—and the devil is fighting to keep those strongholds in place. Only Jesus can break through those strongholds! Only His salvation and fresh anointing can bring lasting change.

Maybe you can identify with losing your peace, your health, and your family. Undoubtedly, you’ve gone through satan’s attempts to kill, steal, and destroy you. If so, you can understand how desperate the world is, and how vital it is for us to live in His fresh anointing, even as we take the message of salvation, healing, hope, and peace to them right now!

Help me to share the glorious Gospel with a deeply wounded generation!

Whatever need you have in your life right now, make the divine connection between your need and your seed. Your seed makes all the difference for others and for your own future, as Jesus Himself taught:

Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you. (Luke 6:38, NKJV)

These troubling times are causing people to question everything, even their most deeply-held beliefs. They want to hear the real truth, real answers to their most overwhelming challenges. And we know there is only one answer for the world today:  Jesus, Jesus, Jesus!

Yes, the Gospel is free to all who will receive it, but the expense of sharing this Good News continues to spiral as we seek to share through all means possible. Will you help me today with a generous offering?

Our precious Master said, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly” (John 10:10). Billions around the globe are waiting to hear the message of peace and hope that only Christ can offer.

Paul the apostle told the church in Corinth “as you abound in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in all diligence, and in your love for us—see that you abound in this grace also” (2 Corinthians 8:7, NKJV). He was referring to abounding in giving.

Your giving toward the spread of the Gospel attracts God’s attention, and when we give as God desires, only then can God make all grace abound to us, that we will have all sufficiency in all things and abundance for every good work.

In all things!

Every time we give to bless the work of God, those blessings come back to us multiplied. He promises to bless us so much more than we can ever bless Him.

When we show our love to Him in any area of life—spiritually, emotionally, physically, or financially—God responds with such an abundance that it overflows into every area of life.
