When the children of Israel were delivered from Egypt, their exodus was soon followed by a massive challenge between the old and the new.

As they approached the Red Sea, they saw the Egyptian army behind them and the sea in front of them. Using only human logic, they were terrified. Behind and before them was death. They were trapped with nowhere to go.

But because Moses lived in a world of no limits, he didn’t see the Egyptians or the sea. He saw God (Exodus 14:15-21).

Then when Moses stretched out his hand, the invisible became visible. The Israelites witnessed the parting of the waters and walked on dry land, but when the Egyptians tried to do the same, the waters closed up and they drowned.

What made the difference? Moses saw His “no-limits” God and obeyed Him, even in that terrifying situation.

As we become able to really see the Lord, He becomes more real to us than our own obstacles.

The physical world is full of overwhelming “giants”—limitations and challenges— that try to prevent us from accepting the promises of God, but as we learn to walk in the Spirit, we discover a promised land with no limits.

When you focus on the Lord, you don’t see the past—you don’t even see the future. You see Him!

How do you begin, like Moses, to see God instead of the barriers?

Depend Totally on God’s Abilities

Because of their disbelief at the report of their own spies in the Promised Land (Numbers 13), the Israelites had to spend 40 years in the wilderness. With new leadership in place, God said:

“Arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them—the children of Israel” (Joshua 1:2, NKJV).

The new leaders had a different vision of the land, previously seen as terrifying and unbeatable. Now, instead of seeing a land of giants, Joshua and Caleb saw a land of no limits.

What made the difference? God had become more real to His people than the potential danger in the Promised Land. He became bigger than the fearsome giants in the land. When we truly experience the presence of God, we don’t see the giants or fear the barriers. We see only God, and we don’t limit Him to our own mentality, our own feelings, or the way we see ourselves.

Before we are born again, our life is filled with limitations, but the instant we step out of our old life, we cross into a new life:

“Anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” (2 Corinthians 5:17, NLT).

Old things are passed away. That means we don’t have an old life. It no longer exists. We are new creations in Christ Jesus.

From the moment you are born again, you can walk in the Spirit realm with no limitations because “you are Christ’s, and Christ is God’s” (1 Corinthians 3:23).

Obey God and Act on His Word

As new creations in Christ, we must look to Him for guidance and let Him reveal the things in us that must change. To act like a new creation we must do things differently.

First, we must begin obeying God and acting on His Word rather than allowing the enemy of our souls to define us by our past. Fear and unbelief depend on feelings. Faith depends solely on God’s resources and promises.

When we believe the Bible and in God’s forgiveness, then we must begin to live like it. And when we begin to live with no limits and no past, victory will come to us like a never-ending series of explosions.

One of the hardest places for people to apply and follow these steps to no-limits living is with their possessions—their finances.

Why is that?

We are tempted to put our trust in our finances instead of the God who provides them to us. Jesus pointed this out in His Sermon on the Mount as He taught the people about putting God first, trusting Him, and making their actions reflect their faith in God.

Our Lord said:

Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. (Matthew 6:19-21)

Jesus went on to tell them to put God and His kingdom first, and all the things they need would be added to them (see Matthew 6:33).

Let me encourage you to trust God, putting aside all things that distract you from focusing on Him, and start operating in newness and faith in a life without limits.

No-limits Blessings

As in every other area of life, it is important to be led by our no-limits God in our finances.

How are you limiting God?

Oral Roberts once taught me about no-limits living. One time in particular he looked into my eyes and asked, “Benny, how many times did the Lord Jesus say to give in this verse?”

I said, “One time.”

“Good,” he said. “Now how many times did our Lord say to receive?”

“I don’t know,” I replied.

He said, “Let’s look at it again.” Together we read the passage again, then he proclaimed, “Seven times!”

As he listed them, he held up a finger for each way we should expect to receive:

1. You will receive
2. A great or full measure
3. Compacted and pressed down
4. Shaken and condensed together
5. Abundant and running over
6. Gifts from others into your lap
7. The same measure you use

How amazing!

Remember Luke 6:38 as you face your giants, especially in the area of finances.

Allow me to agree with you in prayer:

God, I ask You to give Your people a no-limits harvest through Your name and Your power. Bless Your people with a harvest as they sow today toward the spread of the Gospel. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

It’s your time for fullness and abundance. It’s your time for no limits. And I believe that 2020 will be your best no-limits year ever.

Commit to walking in the Spirit and expecting God to fulfill His promises to bless you so that you continue to be a blessing to others.
