Today’s Key Scripture
“From now on, worshiping the Father will not be a matter of the right place but with a right heart. For God is a Spirit, and He longs to have sincere worshipers who adore Him in the realm of the Spirit and in truth.”
— John 4:24, tpt
If you were to ask me, “Benny, what do you value most as a Christian?” without hesitation I would tell you that, except for salvation itself, I cherish God’s presence and the anointing of the Holy Spirit in my life. In fact, I would rather die than lose it. And what the Spirit has revealed to me concerning God’s special touch on my life has caused me to treasure Him even more.
God longs for us to know His power and His presence. His Word describes it in glorious detail. In fact, the psalmist wrote, “Your anointing has made me strong and mighty. You’ve empowered my life for triumph by pouring fresh oil over me” (Psalm 92:10, tpt).
The secret to the Holy Spirit’s anointing is found in surrender, which is only possible through prayer and brokenness before our wonderful Lord Jesus. It is not a one-time event; it is a continual revelation and an ongoing work.
That should be our lifelong pursuit—to know Him more intimately every day, to adore Him in Spirit and truth!
A Prayer for Today
Lord, I ask You today for more of You and less of myself in my life. I seek Your power and anointing, but most of all I thirst for You. Teach me today to become more reliant on You. Bring me into a greater understanding of You. Give me spiritual eyes that see beyond the natural realm. Help me see Your hand at work in my life. More than ever before, my heart is open to You today. I seek to serve You and You alone. In Jesus’ precious name I pray, amen.
