Today’s Key Scripture

“You will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, says the Lord, and I will bring you back from your captivity; I will gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you, says the Lord, and I will bring you to the place from which I cause you to be carried away captive.”

— Jeremiah 29:13-14

If closeness with God is your desire, I have some wonderful news for you: The Lord desires a close relationship with you even more than you do!

From the time God created Adam, mankind was created for fellowship. And from the moment sin broke that fellowship, the Lord offered ways to rebuild a loving relationship. Enoch is mentioned in the Bible simply for walking with God. Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob were also known for their fellowship with the Lord, for He continually and patiently looked for those whose hearts were after Him.

Think back for a moment to the time when Moses was given instructions for the building of the ark of the covenant. God told Moses, “You shall put the mercy seat on top of the ark, and in the ark you shall put the Testimony that I will give you. And there I will meet with you, and I will speak with you from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubim which are on the ark of the Testimony, about everything which I will give you in commandment to the children of Israel” (Exodus 25:21-22).

God’s greatest desire was to commune with His servant Moses, and His great desire still is to commune with you. Remember the veil was rent in two, and the way into the Most Holy Place was opened. We still have access to God today. All we have to do is seek Him with all our heart!

A Prayer for Today

God in heaven, I do seek you with all my heart. I thank You for preparing my heart to spend time with You today. Thank You for giving me a future and a hope. Thank You for listening to the cries of my heart as I endeavor to walk with You every day. Thank You for allowing me to seek and find You, even as I search for You with a prepared, clean heart. Be with me today as I serve You in thought, word, and deed. I long to be Your willing servant, used for Your glory today. And I pray all this in Jesus’ mighty name that is above all names, amen.
