• True intercession is a relationship with the Lord that is immeasurable.

  • Intercession is where a spiritual breakthrough occurs.

  • Through intercession you become an instrument in the hand of Almighty God.

Often I have met people who tell me, “I’m an intercessor.” Yet when I talk with them, it becomes clear they simply see their role in ministry as “praying for others.”

True intercession has a far deeper meaning and is the result of a relationship with the Lord that is immeasurable.

Communion is marvelous, but intercession is where a spiritual breakthrough occurs.

It is only by taking each of the steps we have already discussed that you are ready to talk with God on this level.

Here is what takes place. Confession, supplication, adoration and communion bring peace – the necessary ingredient that prepares you for intercession.

When stress and anxiety are gone you will be ready to move into this place of prayer. Peace brings you into worship, and worship brings you into intimacy. The Holy Spirit takes over and now you are interceding.

“Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.” (Romans 8:26)

It is at this point names and faces flash into your mind. God speaks to you and says, “Pray for her” – and you do not even know why you are praying. Suddenly your entire being is reaching out to the Lord. There is deep emotion, even agony — and “groanings” you don’t know how to express.

Through intercession you become an instrument in the hand of Almighty God. As a result, lives will be changed for eternity.
