Today’s Key Scripture

“Whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.”

— Matthew 21:22

You’ve probably heard the old saying, “Seeing is believing.” That may be true for many things in life, but when it comes to prayer, the opposite is true: Believing is seeing!

That’s what faith is. The Bible teaches that it was faith that built the entire universe that we see today—faith brought it into being: “By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible” (Hebrews 11:3). God spoke, and the universe appeared!

Prayer is directly tied to the creative power of God. God has given us prayer so that we, too, may call into being things that would glorify Him and bless others.

In prayer, we do exactly as He did. We speak the things into being that we desire, and believe that as soon as we’ve spoken them, we already have them. Then, we keep confessing that those things are ours. As long as the prayer is in line with God’s Word and His will for our lives, the manifestation will always follow, because God always stands behind His Word.

Take God at His word. Keep confessing that those things are yours, and your believing will soon become seeing.

A Prayer for Today

Precious Lord, I do believe. I trust that my believing will become seeing. You are full of grace and compassion, so when I ask for Your understanding and mercy, I know I will receive. Thank You for example after example throughout the Bible of Your promises extended to Your children. Please forgive me for the times when I fall short, and help me learn how to consecrate my heart to follow You daily so I can believe and see. In Jesus’ name, amen.
