Today’s Key Scripture

“You do not have because you do not ask.”

— James 4:2

Today, more than ever before, our Lord Jesus is calling you and me today into a deeper life of stronger fellowship with Him. He desires for us to be effective prayer warriors.

Why? Here are two powerful reasons:

  1. As we face today’s challenges, only prayer can bring deliverance from judgment and deliverance from the Enemy: “When I cry out to You, then my enemies will turn back; this I know, because God is for me” (Psalm 56:9).
  2. Only as we fellowship with the Lord in prayer can we stay in God’s presence: “They shall come with weeping, and with supplications I will lead them. I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters, in a straight way in which they shall not stumble” (Jeremiah 31:9).

The wonderful Bible teacher and author R. A. Torrey once said, “Prayer is the key that unlocks all the storehouse of God’s infinite grace and power. All that God is, and all that God has is at the disposal of prayer.”

Call upon Him. Abide with Him. Spend time with God in close communion, and your prayer life will be changed forever. Then ask, seek, and knock!

A Prayer for Today

Father God, help me abide with You. Change me forever because of the time I spend in Your presence today. Fill me with Your supernatural power to overcome each obstacle in my path. I seek to keep my eyes on You, Lord. I desire for You to fill me to overflowing. I want to know Your glory in ways I’ve never imagined. I believe that You will prepare and strengthen me for the road ahead so that when I ask, You will answer. Help me to endure. Fuel me for the tasks You have given me to do. Thank You for allowing me to walk with Your abiding presence. I love You with all of my heart. In Jesus’ name, amen.
