Today’s Key Scripture
“I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”
— Philippians 3:13-14
Often people tell me, “You must be thrilled recalling all that has happened since those early days in Toronto.”
Yes, there have been historic times since then, but the most exciting times of all are right now and in the future, not the past.
What about you? Has your life become a history book, or is it a living journal, with pages waiting to record the amazing details of today and tomorrow?
Over the years I’ve encountered many who, instead of building a strong foundation for their lives, choose to live in a world of fantasy.
The apostle Paul certainly didn’t focus on the past:
- He dealt with yesterday by “forgetting those things which are behind.”
- He turned toward tomorrow by “reaching forward to those things which are ahead.”
- And he applied himself today by pressing “toward the goal.”
Through spending time in God’s Word and in His presence, you can discover an extraordinary vision for the future. Organize your life around it and remove the distractions the Enemy seeks to place in your way.
An extraordinary, victorious vision begins as you pray, listening to the Designer of all your dreams!
A Prayer for Today
Almighty Father, I desire to go deeper and deeper with You, even as I climb higher and higher toward the goal of Your high calling. I offer my eternal gratefulness for this privilege of serving You. I want to persevere in prayer and communion with You. Keep me mindful of the ways I can glorify You in the way I ask for both small and large things. And I pray all this in the mighty name of Jesus, amen.
