Today’s Key Scripture

“You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

— Acts 1:8

Why should we seek to be in God’s lovely presence? Why do we seek His anointing?

After Christ’s ascension into heaven, we are told that the disciples “all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication” (Acts 1:14). And as they prayed in the Upper Room, “the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness” (Acts 4:31).

At times the Holy Spirit comes upon us for a reason and a season, anointing us with boldness for dominion and authority. This dimension of the anointing releases the gift of faith and brings us into a realm of the Holy Spirit’s boldness that is awesome and powerful!

Each dimension of the anointing is dependent upon the next. As you spend time in prayer and reading God’s Word, your walk with God is strengthened and the presence of the Holy Spirit intensifies.

The Holy Spirit anoints us for service, but it is His power, His presence, and His proclamation that brings life!

A Prayer for Today

Almighty Father, as I start this day, help me remember that I belong to You, and my desire is to act according to Your will, not mine. Keep me from floundering as I follow the path You have set before me. Guard my mind from wandering into diversions that might steal precious energy and momentum from the most important things You have for me to do. I’m so grateful that You died for me, arose in victory, ascended to heaven, and sent the Holy Spirit to comfort, guide, and strengthen me on my journey. Today and every day, I ask that You fill me anew with the wonder of Your love, the liberty of Your Spirit, and the joy of knowing You more intimately. I pray this in the name above all names, amen.
