Timeless Truth

Knowledge-Based Faith

By Smith Wigglesworth
a4_99999171Nothing in the world glorifies God as much as simple rest of faith in what God's Word says. "This is the work of God, that you believe." Jesus said, "My Father has been working until now, and I have been working" (John 5:17). He saw the way the Father did the works; it was on the groundwork of knowledge, faith based upon knowledge. When I know Him, there are so many promises I can lay hold of, and then there is no struggle, "for [he] who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened" (Matt. 7:8).

Jesus lived to manifest God's glory in the earth, to show forth what God is like, so that many sons might be brought to glory (Heb. 2:10). The Son came, and in the power of the Holy Spirit revealed faith.

Singing the Praises of Charles Wesley's Work

By Adelle M. Banks

a4_99999147Religion News Service, WASHINGTON -- As his fellow Methodists held their red hymnals and sang Charles Wesley's hymns, the Rev. Jonathan Kerry of London kept his hands in his pockets while singing the prolific British writer's words from memory.

"They're like the family jewels, really, that we share," he said of Wesley's lyrics, which include "Christ the Lord is Risen Today" and "O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing."

"I always make a point of trying to sing them without the hymnal because that's how I concentrate on the words and what they mean."

Great choirs and orchestras had been prepared for this exciting occasion. The Levites had practiced long. The priests tensed with excitement as the ceremonies began. Solomon was to lead in prayer on this day of days. The worship service started all they had anticipated.
