Surrender to Blessing

a4_99999689By Benny Hinn

The miracle of the feeding of the five thousand often comes to mind when considering the mighty manifestations of the Lord Jesus. Jesus and the apostles had sought a remote place where they could rest. But the need that the multitudes felt for the Savior was such that they followed Him wherever He went. When they found Jesus, the Master responded to their need by teaching them about many things. Out in their remote location, the time passed quickly as the crowd sat and listened intently to the teachings of Jesus. Jesus had compassion on them and continued to teach them because their spiritual need was so acute. Before long, darkness was approaching.

Noting the lateness of the day, the disciples came to Jesus and suggested that He send the people away to the neighboring villages to buy bread, for many of them had eaten nothing all day long.

Jesus responded by saying, "You give them something to eat." But the cost to buy food far exceeded the resources available to the apostles. Furthermore, a quick check of this great throng of people, which was comprised of five thousand men as well as untold thousands of women and children, revealed that the total available food supply consisted of five small barley loves and two small fish - the lunch of a single young boy.

The Heart of a Tither

By Kenneth C. Ulmer, PH. D.

a4_99999032There is a vast difference between brining the tithe  and being a tither. Let me say that another way: Just because you tithe ever Sunday does not mean you're a tither! In their book Wealth, Riches & Money, God's Biblical Principles of Finance, Craig Hill and Earl Pitts put it in a nutshell: "Many people are tithing but never become tithers."

That's true, because the issue is one of intensity of heart. "The difference has to do with the attitude and active involvement," write Hill and Pitts. For example, you might love to play football at the park no and then, but that doesn't make you and Emmit Smith or a David Beckham. You might love to play tennis on occasion, but that doesn't make you a Steffi Graf or a Venus or Vanessa Williams. A professional athlete has devotion, dedication and passion about his or her sport, which presses him or her to be great. A true tither will have the drive, desire and commitment of a pro.

Smart Tips for the Economic Crunch

CBN.com - With gas and food prices sky high, many Americans are in survival mode -- looking for ways to trim the budget. CBN News explored what families are doing to cut back during these trying economic times.

America Gets a Brutal Reality Check

It seems everywhere we turn, we're reminded of economic obstacles. There's the rising cost of food.

"Our grocery bill has gone up about $100 a month," one woman told CBN News.

Americans are also facing record high gas prices -- averaging around four dollars a gallon.

"Gas prices are outrageous," one consumer commented.

"I can't afford this," said another. "Metro's looking good!"

It's no wonder that 60 percent of Americans now say gas prices are causing them "hard to severe" economic hardship.
