Surrender to Blessing

The miracle of the feeding of the five thousand often comes to mind when considering the mighty manifestations of the Lord Jesus. Jesus and the apostles had sought a remote place where they could rest. But the need that the multitudes felt for the Savior was such that they followed Him wherever He went. When they found Jesus, the Master responded to their need by teaching them about many things. Out in their remote location, the time passed quickly as the crowd sat and listened intently to the teachings of Jesus. Jesus had compassion on them and continued to teach them because their spiritual need was so acute. Before long, darkness was approaching.

Noting the lateness of the day, the disciples came to Jesus and suggested that He send the people away to the neighboring villages to buy bread, for many of them had eaten nothing all day long.

Jesus responded by saying, "You give them something to eat." But the cost to buy food far exceeded the resources available to the apostles. Furthermore, a quick check of this great throng of people, which was comprised of five thousand men as well as untold thousands of women and children, revealed that the total available food supply consisted of five small barley loves and two small fish - the lunch of a single young boy.

The Nature and Knowledge of Angels

Throughout the Old and New Testaments, the Scriptures help us understand the nature of angels and tell us what angels know and do not know.

Angels are spiritual beings, which allows them to ascend and descend between heaven and earth.

And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it. (Genesis 28:12) And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man. (John 1:51)

ANGELS ARE INTELLIGENT AND THEY KNOW WHAT IS HAPPENING ON EARTH.

To fetch about this form of speech hath thy servant Joab done this thing: and my lord is wise, according to the wisdom of an angel of God, to know all things that are in the earth. (2 Samuel 14:20)

The Cool Cucumber

a4_99999198Have you ever noticed that the more fresh fruits and vegetables you eat, the more you want? In Bible times, fresh vegetables were consumed regularly, unlike America today where processed foods filled with additives and hydrogenised fats are the norm. This is a concern of the medical field and should be a concern of ours as well.

How often do you eat whole, fresh foods? In our age of microwave and fast-food eating, some might say they've even forgotten what natural foods taste like.

Fresh cucumbers are an excellent source of many nutrients, including vitamin C, vitamin K, and potassium. Cucumbers also provide dietary fiber, vitamin A, vitamin B6, thiamine, foliate, pantothenic acid, magnesium, phosphorus, copper, and manganese.

Adding a crisp, crunchy, cool cucumber to your salad is one good way to increase fiber intake. How's that so? The extra fluid you need when increasing fiber occurs naturally in the cucumber. You'll also receive the ever-important beta carotene and folic acid. As a green vegetable, cucumbers also help lower the chances of coronary heart disease. It's best to eat fresh cucumbers, as pickling removes much of the nutrient content, especially vitamin C.
