Seven Blessings of the Atonement

Pastor Benny HinnThis year, the Jewish New Year (Rosh Hashanah) began at sunset on September 28 and will last until nightfall on September 29.

The New Year is closely followed by the Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur), which begins at sunset on October 7 this year and ends at nightfall on October 9.

The entire season of feasts that lasts through much of October is extremely important, but the Day of Atonement is particularly significant:

The Lord spake unto Moses, saying: Also on the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a day of atonement: it shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto the Lord. And ye shall do no work in that same day: for it is a day of atonement, to make an atonement for you before the Lord your God. (Leviticus 23:26-28)

By now you may be asking, “But aren't these feasts only for the children of Israel, God's chosen people? If I'm not Jewish, how could something like this have any relevance to me?”

It is true that the Feasts of Israel were all fulfilled in Christ Jesus, and the Day of Atonement was specifically fulfilled when He died on the cross, but we must also understand the significance of the blessings God poured out on His people during these special seasons.

The Day of Atonement was one of the three times each year when the Israelites were commanded to bring an offering: “They shall not appear before the Lord empty-handed. Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the Lord your God which He has given you (Deuteronomy 16:16-17, nkjv).

I encourage you to read Joel 2:12-14, which describes the actions connected with the Day of Atonement. After fasting, weeping, mourning, rending hearts, the time comes to leave an offering. What happens next defies human logic.

Joel 2:18-23 tells about seven supernatural blessings that come as a result of the Day of Atonement offering:

  1. A double-portion
  2. Financial abundance
  3. Restoration
  4. Miracles
  5. God's divine presence
  6. Blessings upon your family
  7. Deliverance

Specifically, Joel 2:23 speaks of something truly remarkable that will happen to those who move into the blessing of the Day of Atonement offering—a double-portion blessing: “He has given you the former rain faithfully, and He will cause the rain to come down for you—the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month” (nkjv).

The former rain deals with the spring rains, preparing the land for seed time. The latter rain deals with the fall outpourings as the land is prepared for harvest. During the first month of the Jewish New Year, both rains come together for those who do not appear before the Lord empty-handed!

All of the seven blessings of the Day of Atonement offering are for us today!

I do not want you, my partner, to miss these heavenly benefits at this time of incredible harvest and blessing, for we know that the Lord Jesus, the highest authority in heaven and earth, detailed the law of supernatural kingdom outpouring when He said, "Give and it shall be given unto you: good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again" (Luke 6:38).

The greatest thing you can do for yourself and your loved ones is to obey the words of our wonderful Lord. He desires to pour out all of His blessings on us, yet for too long we have lived by the standards of the world's economy.

That is about to change!

The observation of this holy season on God's calendar and its freewill offerings have been too often ignored by Christians, but it is time to unlock the keys to every blessing God has for you and your loved ones. The month of October could be your month of divine breakthrough, so please return your Day of Atonement offering right away before this season concludes.

Here is what I am asking you to do:

  • Pray about what seed-offering God is directing you to give toward the many outreaches of this worldwide ministry.
  • Plant your best seed-gift, then begin trusting God for a double blessing during this sacred season.
  • Send us your most important prayer needs. As the Day of Atonement (October 7–8) approaches, my staff, mighty prayer warriors around the globe, and I will be standing in agreement with you.

The season that occurs in October 2011 (the Jewish year 5772) is extremely significant and can be life changing for you and your loved ones.

Whether or not you have observed this season in the past, look toward this New Year on God's calendar by joining with other believers.

The Lord Jesus Himself will reward you for standing on His word and honoring Him with your seed-gift. I will be agreeing with you in prayer that God will meet every need in your life during this life-changing season, so send your prayer requests and seed-gifts during the month of October and believe our wonderful Lord Jesus for a mighty outpouring in your life.

God still places significance on His sacred seasons. This important holy season, largely forgotten by many church leaders, has not lost its place on God's calendar, and I want to make sure that you are part of this sacred time. Please send your prayer requests and seed-gift today.

Start claiming the blessings of the atonement for you and your loved ones, then watch what God does!

For we know it is “not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts” (Zechariah 4:6)...

Preaching the glorious Gospel of Jesus Christ,
teaching the unchanging Word of God, and
